It's James Bond night at the Rabrrrrrr household |
|
Starting with "The World is Not Enough". Just watched the opening scene. Bloody frickin' incredible.
Say what you will, for my money Pierce Brosnan is a DAMN good Bond - the kind of Bond I'd been waiting for. Though I also liked Timothy Dalton.
And Judi Dench as M was a frickin' brilliant casting move.
After this one, I think I might go back to Dr. No. Perhaps Goldfinger. I'm pretty sure I won't be watching either of the Roger Moore ones I have (Man With the Golden Gun (though that's pretty good) and one of the other real shitty last ones - I can't remember the name).
Go Bond Go!!!

1. I've got "The Living Daylights" on right now. |
|
But you're probably not seeing this. I think I'm on your hunt down and slaughter like voles list.

2. nah, I'm not hunting anyone down like voles any more |

Perhaps that's the one I'll do next - I have that one, too, and like it.
Anyway, you're totally safe. No worries. :-)

3. This weekend is Bond for me as well: |
|
* The Spy Who Loved Me * For Your Eyes Only * Octopussy * A View to a Kill * The Living Daylights * Licence to Kill * Die Another Day (the plot ultimately becomes crap and appeals to the MTV hyper generation, but it's got far more good moments and atmosphere than any other Brosnon-as-Bond (aka Brosnobond) flick).

That's one of my favorite Connery ones.
Brosnan is a fantastic Bond.
Hope Clive Owen is the next one. *crossing all fingers and stuff*

8. Woo hoo! Another Brosnan fan! |
|
Seems that he doesn't get a lot of cred here on DU, based on previous threads.

11. Didn't Brosnan win the Bond poll? |
|
Edited on Fri Nov-26-04 10:10 PM by tjdee
Did you catch that DU poll, about who was the best Bond next to Connery...did Brosnan win or did I just space out on that?
There are a lot of...Dalton (?) fans here, more than I thought existed in the whole world, hehehehe.
But ever since I saw Brosnan in Remington Steele, I wanted him to be Bond. Seemed a nobrainer to me. Think he's done a very strong job.

That Clive Owen does not want to do Bond.
Ever since he did those The Hire shorts for BMW Films, he feels that Bond "would not be enough of a challenge" to him.

Clive Owen is just saying that--I read that almost every day someone's asking him about it, and that people have called him wanting to know why he didn't tell them he was the new Bond...
He's probably getting irritated with the whole subject.
I'd not read that though, so if it's true that's cool too. As long as he is highly visible for awhile. He's a fine actor. I sometimes suspect he is too old (but then I change my mind).

9. Ah ... you must be watching DVDs |
|
There's been a Bond marathon on Spike (channel 36 for you, Rabrrrrrr) for the last couple of days.

All I get is a basic cable, which is 20 channels, 5 of which are *&@(*^$% shopping, 2 public, 2 cspan, 1 TV Guide thingy, and then CBS, NBC, FOX, and ABC.
In other words, not a very good selection.
:-)
But, since I can get a shitty selection for $10, or I could a larger, but equally shitty collection for $130, might as well only waste the ten bucks.

I, too, love Bond. But I have decided never to buy the DVDs. Whenever I buy DVDs I inevitably never watch them. I prefer the treat of renting a Bond once in a while.
I also dig the Pierce Brosnan. Perfect casting for the movies he's in.
