Friday night "The Lounge is Dead" drinking thread |
|
Hello all you lounge zombies. Unless you're too busy eating the brains of the living, how about reporting what you have in your glass?
The old Droopster is still in the land of the living thanks to beer and pizza rolls. And that anti-depressant sure isn't hurting, either. The doc told me to cut back on the power drinking, though, but I can still have a few for "medicinal purposes."
I've got my supply of Miller Lite to keep me alive and kicking. It's not too bad for what one DUer called, "lawnmower beer."
Chime in with your favorite drinking songs, too, if you'd like. Let's start the drinking festivities.

I will have to add "Miller Lite Drinker" to the list. What do you think of the High Life? Have you ever tried the High Life Lite (I just had it last night; not a huge fan)?

hanging outside of the unisex bathrooms is the "vote to impeach" ad with *'s face on it, and someone has drawn a little hitler mustache on shithead's mug (it was there the last time i was in there, which was this summer, hope it's still there). gotta love cambridge!

It has sort of a sweet taste to it that I don't like. I went through a period of experimentation with other brews no too long ago, but I keep coming back to Miller Lite.

i find that now, if i want variety, i buy a 12-pack of bottles instead of cans. miller lite is great; you can drink it all night, and it never gives you a nasty hangover (you can't say the same for expensive wine

6. Rolling Rock. And here are the lyrics to Monty Python's classic |
|
drinking song. I think it's called "Bruces Song".
Immanuel Kant was a real pissant Who was very rarely stable.
Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar Who could think you under the table.
David Hume could out-consume Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel,
And Wittgenstein was a beery swine Who was just as schloshed as Schlegel.
There's nothing Nietzche couldn't teach ya 'Bout the raising of the wrist. Socrates, himself, was permanently pissed.
John Stuart Mill, of his own free will, On half a pint of shandy was particularly ill.
Plato, they say, could stick it away-- Half a crate of whisky every day.
Aristotle, Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle. Hobbes was fond of his dram,
And René Descartes was a drunken fart. 'I drink, therefore I am.'
Yes, Socrates, himself, is particularly missed, A lovely little thinker, But a bugger when he's pissed.

Not sure if you'll get that one -- or anybody else will either, for that matter.
"Now I ain't no connoiseur cat - Some conno-sewer(kinda sewer) rat Red red wine on Sunday Always tastes so good Red red wine Red red wine Red red wine if you would"
I'll let that one rest for a while, and if nobody else has dropped by here who knows who did the song, and anybody wants to know, I'll say who it was.

38. I remember a sort of ragae type song called something like |
|
"Red, Red Wine" that was popular back in the early to mid 90s. I don't recall the group and I think the song was a cover of an older version. Probably not the one you are thinking of, though. I think the group's name was UB40.

39. That song was by UB40. |
|
The original was written by Neil Diamond (and, presumably, recorded by him back in the sixties).
This one predates the UB40 cover of the Neil Diamond song, but it isn't the same one. I don't know if anybody will recognize it -- the band who did the song wasn't obscure to people my age, but I'm older than most people who hang out in the Lounge this time of night on the weekends, nobody may recognize it.
