OK, maybe I'm NOT buying a house
Just had it appraised and it came in under what the vendor (my landlord, a real estate guy) is asking because the appraiser spotted some problems.

  • New roof in three years.
  • New front steps basically NOW!
  • New water heater now (more for the insurance company than anything else)

So the realtor/vendor is saying he's got another buyer and they're coming tomorrow. I'm not ready so I have to stay up all night unpacking boxes and making the place somewhat reputable and rip out my nice new light fixtures and put his old crap back in.

I really didn't need this.

2. Ugh, I'm so sorry!
But, it's good that you got an honest appraisal. I bought my house and the appraiser and inspector both said everything was fine, but the roof was total crap. I had to replace it within a year. Yeah, I know I could have taken legal action, but ...

Anyway, good luck if you do have to find another place. I know how stressful having your living place up in the air!!

3. Damn, seems like the owner could have negotiated with you
Something like fix the roof and I'll give you your asking price. I had to replace a water heater and it was only $500 installed. I don't know about the steps.
