My SAME SEX partner and I went to Eddie Bauer to buy a sweater
Edited on Sat Nov-27-04 02:24 AM by mondo joe
My SAME SEX partner and I went to Eddie Bauer to buy a sweater, and the greeter stopped us to say "I want to let you know there are some men's jackets on sale* over in this area - but you're probably out shopping for something special for your sweethearts."

"Actually," I replied, "we are each other's sweethearts so the jacket sale will do just fine."

So there!

*edited to add "on sale"

2. I think she was cool. I felt like a Will & Grace episode.
I don't usually announce ANYTHING personal about myself.

But she invited it.

7. I know. But I'll give her the benefit of the doubt.
Besides - we both got a funny story out of it!

6. Good for you
I always appreciate it when people who are different from the norm stand up for who they are.

12. I WISH I WAS GAY!
I moved to another part of the country and miss my gay friends. We used to have such fun -- we'd go out as tourists checking out the hot guys together -- hah cha chaaaa!. We used to howl with laughter when we'd see some white trash family screaming at one another, obviously miserable (and me an attractive educated single blonde babe) and I'd ask - how come she has a ring on her finger, and I don't?...and we would laugh and laugh.

When we travelled together, as great pals, I was always welcomed in gay hangouts. If we ended up in a "macho" place -- sad to say, they would give him grief....

Finding mates for life, lettin' alone keepin' em -- hasn't been a big success story for me. The serial longtime boyfriend, and that's about it, that's how it has worked out, for what ever reason. But ever since cresting my 20s, I have been weirded out by the "suspicion" that I must be lesbian. I have met women in similar situations, and they have concurred that it is weird that people conclude that you are gay if you haven't found a husband by age whatever and are not seeking one actively, and actually find many totally YUKKKY "eligible" men incomprehensible -- so you must be queer, right? I have been TOLD people suspect this; I have been TOLD by attractive intelligent well-educated women who also can't find anyone they care or dare to spend time with, that they are also "under suspicion."

So -- I deal with the bullshit -- and fuck the stereotypes! Too bad honest conversation has such little part in this bullshit, because I think I have a lot of honestly about life I am willing to talk about that the "straights" could benefite from.

But damn -- deep DOWN I wish I was gay and would show up with a girlfriend and give 'em the stink eye to fuck with me....

Alas, I am STRAIGHT and HETERO -- and I can't CHOOSE!

If I could CHOOSE, I would LOVE to have another reason to make Rick and Karen Santorum hate me -- 'though, as the election grows near, it will not be necessary.

My love to my gay and straight conscious friends on DU, XOXO forever
