1. I don't think there should be a problem
unless your turkey went bad

4. meat yes; bones NO
The meat poses no problems, but turkey bones, like all poultry, can splinter when eaten. This can cause them to puncher your dogs stomach.... so let him/her have some of the meat, but be sure there are no bones in it...

5. YES

I just wanted to give the same answer; poultry bones are potentially dangerous.

7. Thanks for your Link, I think we all know that bones are bad
but your link mentioned that Fatty Meats were also bad. I think she may have had a little too much skin.

6. Only in very small amounts
My friend's brother fed her dog more turkey than he should have last year. When we returned from our Friday shopping excursion the next day, we were greeted with an overwhelming stench of doggy poo when we opened the door to the house. The poor thing had what we termed "Explosive" diarrhea from eating too much turkey. There was poo everywhere! Just try finding a carpet cleaner to come to the house on a Friday afternoon after Thanksgiving.
However, lesson learned, and no turkey scraps for the dogs this year.

8. My dogs once broke into a cooler in which I had my leftover
T-day turkey.

They learned that dogs should not eat turkey.

But the look on their faces when we discovered the remains strewn throughout the van was priceless.

BTW, the only thing I was worried about was the bones splintering and choking them, but they were OK.

11. It's the over-abundance that gives them the "poops & pukes"..
Edited on Sat Nov-27-04 09:46 AM by SoCalDem
We used to portion the leftovers into sandwich baggies and freeze them.. Every so often we would break one out, thaw it and add it to their dogfood.. They never got the poops..(but then Labradors have cast-iron stomachs)..

12. I feed my dog raw diet and you can give them turkey
bones and all if it is raw. They only have problems with cooked bones cause they splinter. My dog LOVES his raw turkey wings, chicken wings, necks, backs, etc. It;s really good for them too. Lots of benefits to a raw diet

14. I wouldn't give them...
dark meat, skin or bones. I give my dog a small amount - like maybe 2T - of chopped turkey breast mixed into his food whenever I make turkey. He loves it, and I've never noticed any ill effects. Wilbur has kind of a sensitive tummy, so I'm extra-careful.
