I never have to watch another horror movie! |
|
Last night I was in a post-holiday mood, so as I was channel surfing, I came across The 100 Best Moments in Horrow Films on Bravo. It was one of those multi-hour compendia that VH-1 does, only about movies instead of music.
Well, I saw only the last fifty, but let me tell you, the program was almost all spoilers. It showed the endings to films such as The Fly, The Wicker Man, The Serpent and the Rainbow, The Ring, and a few other films I haven't seen (and no longer need to), as well as spoilers for films I have seen, such as Carrie and Wait Until Dark.
Just think how much I'm going to save on rental fees thanks to this!

that just ruins the whole cinema experience. Horror films were meant to be seen in a crowded movie theater so you get the full impact of the cheap scares!

2. I saw this, too... (contains spoiler, you've been warned) |

couldn't believe the top choice was JAWS. I mean that movie was scary, but not THE SCARIEST. I would have chosen THE EXORCIST...
The one that freaked me out the most was AUDITION. God, those Japanese filmmakers are sick and fucked up.

Can't believe Jaws was #1... should've been the Exorcist IMO.

I agree that Jaws was NOT the scariest movie I've ever seen.
I also agree that Audition was one sicko film. I started watching it on cable and had to turn it off when the knives and razor blades came out.
I don't see that many horror films, but my most recent favorite was The Eye, a Hong Kong movie about a young woman born blind who receives her sight after a corneal transplant. It makes her "see dead people all the time," but she doesn't realize that not everyone can. There are other surprises, too, and some real tense moments. It's an interesting variation on the ghost story, taking place in a culture where the belief in ghosts is still strong.
