KICKASS songs whose existence you became aware of recently?
Edited on Sat Nov-27-04 03:49 PM by Commie Pinko Dirtbag
This Friday, a coworker fired up a MP3 of "Every You Every Me" by Placebo. I must say it kicks ass. (At first I thought it was Rush)

Does this band have other songs as good as this one? (Yes, I'm totally out of the loop on current music)

Edit: I'm almost certain "whose" isn't the right pronoun to use there.

2. You won't believe this
but William Shatner has a great song, a "duet" with Henry Rollins, called "I Can't Get behind That".

10. Rollins was talking about making that song...
...on his last Spoken Word tour. He does a hee-larious Shatner impression. And has nothing but nice things to say about how Shatner is so nice.
My roomie and I would burst out laughing anytime either of us says "I can't get behind that" for months after the tour.

Sad to say, I never really listened to them when they were playing.

11. Her dad wrote for Disney...
...he wrote "Bare Necessities".

She's kinda smug in person, but that song is pretty damn good (and I don't generally like her stuff).

13. I met her this summer
and she wasn't the least bit smug. Will be seeing her again in a couple of weeks. Her music is very thoughtful and extremely touching.

9. Ian Rhett's "(Didn't Know I Was) UnAmerican"
http://www.sharedvoice.org/unamerican/

Thanks to matcom for the pointer to it, a couple days before the election.

(By the way, "whose" is incorrect because songs are not animate. It should be "KICKASS songs the existence of which you became recently aware?" Does sound very stodgy in an informal context, though.)
