Bill Moyers - is he a progressive?
Saw him on PBS last night, "Bill Moyers Now" I think the show was called. Definitely had a progressve slant.

(given how our media uses "liberal" in an oft derogatory way in order to make our more humane ideals look satanic and "communist russia"-like, I refuse to use the word.)

1. George Bush -- Evil?
Moyers has been a leading progressive journalist for decades. It's heart-wrenching to see him have to document the decline of America and Americans. I hope he knows what a great American he is. To see him stoutly stand against the gale of ignorance and intolerance which is assailing the nation is inspiring.

2. Bill Moyers was LBJ's press secretary
So I'd say "yes."
John
And "Now" is the most lefty show on broadcast television. I never miss it.

3. His show "NOW" is by far the most progressive on television today.
But he is a voice in the wilderness. He refuses to go on shows like O'reilly and Hannity.

5. Two points of history
He was the Press Secretary for LBJ.

He lost his job at CBS because when CBS declared Reagan as winning in 1980 Moyers said "Racism is fashionable in America again". The last true words spoken on an election night.

My online NOW archives of the past 6 months or so
Help yourselves. Due to finite server space old ones get deleted when new ones get added.

7. Wonk, thank you very much for the Now archive
It is a valuable service. Too often the PBS station in St Louis (KETC) preempts Now in favor of groveling for money. They prefer to show the same lame boomer oriented concert instead of thought provoking news shows.

I am surprised that Now is still on in St Louis but it is. The PBS station here is WAY conservative.
