I have decided to return to DU
A day or two after the election, I just had to leave the boards for awhile to avoid the depressing atmosphere here, as well as the expected backlash against John Kerry.

I thought I would be gone for several months or even a year or two, but here I am, back after only three and a half weeks. During that time, I kept coming back here at the start of the day to get my news. I never even thought about going to the corporate media sites to get my news, and I am watching less and less of the corporate media news channels these days.

I just could not bring myself to extricate myself from some of the debates going on here. In the next few weeks I want to be a part of those debates, though I'm not in total agreement with the emerging conventional wisdom here about this being a stolen election. I more tend to take the side that Kerry ran a milquetoast campaign and that 51% of Americans are selfish, greedy, bigoted or just downright ignorant.

2. And about to get...
A four year education in the pitfalls and perils of hubris.

We get to laugh at their discomfort. In our discomfort. It ain't much, but it is more than they have.

7. Nice that you didn't leave. I guess that we can agree to disagree that
there wasn't hanky panky in the vote count area, but you most certainly have one part right.

Now let them wallow in the mess they created for all of us. (I'm not sure about the percentage but whatever. If they voted for bush*, they fit your description.)

9. Milquetoast, ignorant & greedy are a part of the equation, but outright
theft and fraud are even more! ;-)

We can still hammer away at the AWOL Chimp even if (when, probably) he gets inaugurated.

13. I felt the same way (except for the voter fraud part)
And like you, I came back for the morning news, because DU is the only place that has news with feedback and debate.

I also used to read Salon but after they had an article by their tech guy saying there was no electronic fraud I got tired of them. They recv'd a huge outpouring of letters because the article was so poorly written and unresearched. What did they do? They posted another article written by the same author, defending and repeating his position. So I gave up on them.

14. it's not 51% more like 30% that are greedy. the rest of them are
only concerned with abortion.

16. Welcome back.
I remember you saying you were taking an extended hiatus, but I'm glad you've reconsidered. It was a miserable place to hang right after the election. I don't always agree with you (like on your opinion of Kerry's campaign), but you always added to the discussion here. We're a better board with your participation!

17. Glad to see an active DUer back.
I agree on the milquetoast campaign and the percentage that are selfish, greedy & have seen the ignorant. However, I can't seem to get away from the suspician of some vote rigging. But what disturbs me more on that fact is that we knew it was coming. Diebold mentioned the fact they would do whatever it takes for Bush to carry Ohio.

However, time to move on with some interesting debates and ideas of doing better next time around.
