By the looks of the weekend box office, not many people have gone out to see it. Despite its disasterous reviews, I'm still sort of curious. I wanted to get opinions from you guys. Has anyone seen it? What did you think? Is it well made, or are the reviewers right?

1. saw it....dragged on and on.... |
|
really pretentious and overly florid with the dialogue...just about the only character I gave a shit about was the horse who played Bucephalus! but say what you will, Angelina Jolie was a campy Goddess! Still, I can't believe it's doing worse than Xmas with the Friggin' Kranks...Seriously, people, Alexander wasn't THAT bad!

2. Looking forward to seeing it. |

But for personal reasons. I once knew someone who was (according to his family legend, at least) descended from Alexander the Great. So I've always had a bit of a fascination.....

3. In my town it is playing at a small theater and at a 2nd run theater. |

If they had it at the newer theaters I think I may have gone.

they generally say it has many impressive moments. im going to see it. i don't usually agree with the reviews. a lot of critics have pretty peculiar reasons for their reviews. gone with the wind was panned unmercifully in slime mag. in 39 and is now considered one of the greatest films of all time. their main complaint seems to be accents. what the hell, how do they know how people sounded nearly 3000 years ago? after all babylon where he died was was a city of people speaking so many languages they were said to be babbling.

It was 'good'
On a 5 star scale, I would give it 3 stars.
Yes, Alexander has received a lot of unfair criticism, especially by the freepers over at the Yahoo Movies page. Most of their objections dealt with the bisexual content in the film.
yes, thank you Oliver Stone for not backing down on Alexander's bisexuality - it was a central part of the movie.
I walked away thinking that Alexander was a human being - well, yes, maybe, but he also was a warmonger and I didn't walk away from this movie thinking he was one.
