Great news for Beatles fans!!!
Edited on Sun Nov-28-04 11:45 PM by NightTrain
While poking around in Borders today, I saw a newly released Beatles boxed set titled, THE CAPITOL ALBUMS: VOLUME 1. It comprised the group's first four U.S. albums: MEET THE BEATLES, THE BEATLES' 2ND ALBUM, SOMETHING NEW, and BEATLES '65. Each CD featured the complete original album twice--first in stereo, then in mono. The box also contains a 48-page booklet with plenty of full-color photos. So, it's looking like every Capitol album the Beatles put out in the U.S. will eventually be available through this series of four-disc boxed sets.

I plan to grab that first set some time in the next couple of weeks. And bet yer bottom dollar I'll grab all the subsequent boxes as well.

Thank you, Capitol!!! :yourock::bounce:

1. They all looked the same in 1964
I mean, McCarntey's face is easily recognisable... but they all look like clones of the same person (except for Mr. Unibrow :))

4. Hell, I love the vinyl of these....the covers are so BIG!! As for
that Life magazine...have that one stored, along with clippings from all the NY papers from their first visit to NYC..... plus a reel to reel tape (small diameter)...remember those????
Plus the Murray the K large postcard of him and the Beatles on the train to DC....
I actually stayed home from school on that Friday when they arrived to hear the live coverage on the radio.....

Does this date me??? LOL

6. Gloria, I still have all my albums
and I play them, too. I have some clippings with their pictures right before they came here. The articles insinuate the 'mop tops' will wreak havoc and be the end of civilization. LOL
My Dad even apologized many years ago, and that is a big deal!

5. Question being....WHY???
Edited on Mon Nov-29-04 12:19 AM by Beware the Beast Man
The Capitol albums are mercilessly butchered versions of the EMI albums, each released as either a stopgap or for a quick buck. I guess from a collector's perspective it may make sense.

now if the reissues include the original "Yesterday and Today" cover, then that may be something!

7. For some US fans, it's the only version they know
My dumb dad, for example, who didn't approve of the song order on the British version of Rubber Soul, and bought a CD bootleg of the Capitol version. He'll be thrilled to hear about this set.
