I have the perfect Christmas gift in mind, but I have a question |
|
My sister and her husband lost a very close friend to cancer this year. While I was going through some pictures today, I found a long lost one of him that I had taken.
I'm going to scan it in and frame it. He gave my BIL his Harley and he's restoring it. I saw these picture frames with the Harley logo the other day and was drawn to them. Now I know why because it would be perfect for their friend's picture..
My question is whether this is too much to handle at Christmas. It makes me want to cry just thinking about it and I'm not sure how they'll react. They spent lots of time with him at the end while he was in hospice care, so it was as good of a passing as one could hope for under the circumstances.
I usually have a quiet dinner with them before we go to my dad's to open presents with the rest of the crew. I would give it to them before all of the commotion.
So, do you think this a bad idea or not?

3. Is there any way you can get it to them after "the commotion"? |
|
It seems to me that it might be better that way.

4. When my Mother passed away |

my husband gave me a beautiful picture frame for a photograph he had of her. She had died in August, this was christmas. He presented it to me in front of the tree with our sons there, well...needless to say I bawled like a baby.
Your gift idea sounds wonderful. And presenting it privately is a very thoughtful thing to do.
go for it. :)

5. I think I'll go ahead with this |
|
but make sure I do it during a quiet moment away from others.
It makes me want to go back and find significant photos for other people.

(latest) memories of him and bring them back to the good, loving times they've had. A beautiful idea. You are a precious friend.
