It's 5 am...
...and I'm sitting in an airport. Sleep is my long lost love. After landing, I have class at 430. Nobody is on AIM at this hour, so I thought I'd semi-coherently rant here.

I can give you a detailed description of the family tree of Donald Duck, going all the way back to the Middle Ages.

Just thinking about it is making me head for my bed... :boring:

I spentquite a long time trying to find that tree. Is that drawn by Don Rosa? His "Duck family tree" is referred to a lot.

I just set it as my background. I'm freaking nuts.

8. It's amazing how potent a mixture of alcohol and caffeine is
As for German, well...

Ich spreche ein bisschen Deutsch, aber die Deutschklasse zu meine Schule ist vielleicht ein Blowoffklasse... alles bekommen "A". Verstehen Sie?

The hardest part about German is figuring out which prepositions mean what in which context... the vocab and grammar otherwise is remarkably simple (except at 5:30 AM of course ;))

9. quite so.
But never assume the vocabulary to be simple; it is just trying to trick you into making mistakes.

For instance "self-conscious" and "selbstbewusst" are completely different, the similarity is just a bait to lure you into nonsensical translations.
Not even "abend" and "evening" have exactly the same meaning.

:hi:

10. Ja ich habe Sie verstanden lol
A " blowoffklasse lol - well I learned German while living in Germany but I still speak from time to time around the house because I am so used to it . Yeah I know what you mean about figuring out which prepositions mean what in which context . But even some of the Germans ( no offense to those in DU Land ) where I lived and conversed with paid no attention to the grammar rules either ;)
