Albums that are full of songs that could be singles...
Edited on Mon Nov-29-04 05:14 AM by FDRrocks
What albums can you guys name that are full of songs that could've succeeded in the mainstram.

I can find a few.

Millencolin "Pennybridge Pioneers". Amazinng.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience (The White Boy Band, as my friend calls it) "Are You Experienced". I am still disturbed I don't hear Third Stone from the Sun on the classic rock station every day.

I revisited No Doubts "Tragic Kingdom" and realized that every song could be a single, and over half of them are.

I would also say Less Than Jakes "Losing Streak" has not one bad song, the whole album is amazing, although the mainstream seems to be phobic of these amazingly talented individuals.

Five Iron Frenzy's newest and last album "The End is Here" is amazing, with not one bad song. Mainstream won't touch them. These guys are a liberal christian band from CA/CO that have produced nothing but great albums, save for "All the Hype Money Can Buy", in my opinion. I discovered them while I was drumming for the band in a conservative Pentacostal church. They had alot to do with my view of capitalism and also about conformative spirituality

on edit: U2's "Joshue Tree" and the Beatles "Revolver"

1. "Oh, Inverted World" and "Chutes too Narrow" by The Shins
Both albums are special in that they are intricately carved sculptures of music, but yet the vast majority of the songs on both albums could stand on their own as singles. The two exceptions I can think of without listening are "Your Algebra" from Oh, Inverted World and "Those to Come" from Chutes Too Narrow, which both act as catalysts for mood change within and at the end of their respective albums.

The middle part of Wilco's "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" is chock-full of college-radio goodness, with "War on war", "Jesus, etc", "Heavy metal drummer", and "I'm the man who loves you"

2. Boston's Debut Album
1. More Than A Feeling
2. Peace Of Mind
3. Foreplay/Long Time
4. Rock & Roll Band
5. Smokin'
6. Hitch A Ride
7. Something About You
8. Let Me Take You Home Tonight

I don't know how many of these songs were released as singles, but this album is played on classic rock radio like all of them were.
