It's a Girl, and a Boy, for Julia Roberts |
|
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20041128/ap_en_mo/people_roberts<snip> Roberts, 37, was confined to bed last month after experiencing a series of early contractions and wasn't due until early January. Engelman said Sunday in a phone interview that "mother and babies are doing great," but didn't release the twins' weights or other details. A month and a half early.....I hope these lil one do ok.

15. 34 weeks can go either way sometimes |
|
The "ability" to nipple their feedings well is the very last skill developed in utero---it comes about 36 weeks or so. May take them a few weeks to grasp the ratio of "suck-swallow-breath" skills as they nipple feed...the "light" usually goes on around 36-37 weeks but each baby is different. I've seen full term babies not nipple worth a damn and then I go over to NICU and the preemies are taking an ounce in 5 minutes flat. Sometimes I forget that twins CAN do well cuz I see so many that don't start off too well. These twins may take the fast track thru the NICU and be out in a couple weeks! Here's hoping that this is the case with their babies!!

I hope that the premature babies will be ok. I also hope there won't be excessive paparazzi attention on the babies just because they happen to be Julia Roberts' children.

Just the fact that we're talking about it here at DU (a mostly political web site) pretty much guarantees paparazzi attention. Poor Julia and kidlets!

Feeds their already inflated ego.
edit: yeah ok, it's a birth...but this happens everyday, and she's in good care, unlike many other mothers.

I'm grateful when we get them past 30 weeks and these ones are probably about 34 weeks. They should do just fine.

8. I was interested in Julia Roberts' pregnancy because |
|
my daughter also due in January has been hospitized for the same reason ~ early labor,,,,
Celebrities are real people,,, they have the same kinds of problems/situations in life as us 'regular folk'
I wish their family well.

the money to give them an extra chance should problems occur.
In a culture of life, surely ALL life would get equal treatment?

I'm glad she was delievered of healthy babies--I'm glad when any woman is delivered of healthy babies.
I'll be glad when they report that no baby born has parents who are forced to choose between medicine for the baby if it gets sick and food for the rest of the family. To me, that's far more important than for yet another celebrity having a baby (or babies, as Robert's case may be).
Besides, I prefer her brother's acting ability--a real nice guy--met him at the LA screening of "Outfoxed".

renting Eric Roberts movies for years on the basis of Pope of Greenwich Village and Runaway Train. Unfortunately, Eric's movie choices have been on a slide since the '80's. But my husband is very loyal.

She named them Hazel and Phinneus (!). WHy do celebrities do this to their kids? Are they trying to give them some hardship to compensate for their wealth? Yeesh....Phinneus? He's gonna get the crap kicked out of him.

I came to really dislike her (and Richard Greer) after Pretty Woman. That was a chauvanistic white boy's wet dream of a plot, demeaning to both actors. I know, they are just the actors, but they can afford to choose their parts and not represent such anti-feminist messages. - K

|
Never make me puke again, which is when one of her movies is advertised. Last picture I saw her in was Oceans 11. okay, I know I know, not like the original, however, I didn't know she was in it, if I did, I would have avoided it. I would best describe her acting or none acting ability as trite. Anytime I see her either on screen or TV, I have to tune her out, I find everything about her totally annoying. I still don't get the fascination people have with this twit. She has no range, never really does a challenging part and brings no personal depth to her characters. Millions of feet of film could be saved now by avoiding her pictures.
