Question for hunters about tree markings |
|
We live in a rural area and we have a lot of wildlife, including deer. Most of the roads around us are cut through forests. I've noticed trees with blue spray paint on them, with orange paint, with orange or red ties on low branches, and wondered: are these markings for hunters? Also in the same area as the marked trees, "no hunting" signs are tacked to the trees....

...In the movie they had a scene where they explain that hunters follow the ribbons/markers so they can find their way from the road back to their hunting spot.
Sorry, that is the extent of my knowledge on hunting, heh heh, something I saw in a movie :)

4. They mark trails to their stands |
|
The hunters go into the woods before dawn, the markings help them find the way from the road to their stands in the dark. they also serve to let other hunters know that they are hunting there

7. They own the land or have permission from the owner |
|
the signs are to keep other hunters out. the landowner has it posted to keep the general public out, but hunts there himself or allows others.
If it is a true conservation area,(posted by the state) then the trails are most likely for something else, geologists, lumberman, tree, water or soil survey, maybe a realtor or developer.

8. thank you very much, fish |
|
you've eased my mind a bit
FTR, I think hunting is cruel but wouldn't force my opinion to stop others' actions.
