Highway 61 Revisited
Why didn't I get this album years ago? I may soon be forced to buy almost everything Dylan has ever done. I've got 8 or 9 CD's already.

I was listening to this one on my road trip through the south, part of which was on Highway 61 between Memphis and St. Louis, so that was cool.

3. Hwy 61
Blonde on Blonde are his best, IMO; but for some reason John Wesley Harding is the one whose songs I cannot get out of my head despite not having heard it for 15 years.

4. I don't have any of those yet
Just collections with songs from those albums, but those kind of hits collections just don't cut it. Blood on the Tracks is my other favorite Dylan album. I was born in the 70's so I've been working my way backwards.

Oh Mercy (Political World is very good)
Time Out of Mind (Highlands is 18 mins long and only Dylan could write something that long that is constantly listenable)

His Bobness is one of the icons of modern music

8. I shall enumerate his other best albums for you to buy and enjoy
Edited on Mon Nov-29-04 02:37 PM by bloodyjack
if you're feeling particularly RICH

The freewheelin' Bob Dylan
Bringing it all back home
Blonde on blonde
John Wesley Harding
Blood on the tracks
Royal Albert Hall performance from '66

Legendary moron in the audience: JUDAS!

Dylan on the verge of nervous breakdown: I don't belieeeeve you...you're a LIAR"

Volumes 1-3 of the bootleg series, lastly.

OH SHIT I ALMOST FORGOT! Try your damnedest to get your n00bie hands on the Dylan/Cash sessions. They're unbelievable, and it's from those sessions that "Girl from the north country #2" was culled for Nashville Skyline. Strongly recommended.

14. I first listened to this album
when my dad brought it home, as he had all the previous ones, and I am not a young woman. My dad was really cool. Nobody's mentioned the 'The Times They Are A-changin''album so I will. There's a particularly haunting song on it called 'Spanish Boots of Spanish Leather', and also I love the "Ballad of Hollis Brown".
