Is it mandatory to go see Wayne Newton in Las Vegas?
I'm going to Las Vegas for the first time next week and everyone I talk to says, "you gotta see Wayne Newton!!" Is it a state law?

2. he does put on a great show
will surprise you.

If Sigfried and Boy were still there I would say definitely see them.

Isn't Elton John still filling in for Celine Dion?

Anyway...have fun and spend lotsa cash on slot machines... pays my taxes!

3. "Siegfried and Wayne"
Don't miss it.

I find it incomprehensible that anyone would want to see Wayne Newton in performance. He may be a better performer than John Ashcroft, but that's about the nicest thing I can think to say about him.

Is it considered stratospheric "camp" to see him?

11. totally camp
and yep..he's definitely a repub.. but everyone should see Wayne Newton. First time I saw him was 37 years ago when I was 12...a Vegas institution.

Liberace museum is fun.. Lee's sister in law runs it. Was married to Liberace's brother who was very talented violinist .. much more talented than Liberace. (family friend)

if you want any Vegas trivia just ask moi.

4. No. But it is mandatory to see.......
The Liberace Museum.

I'll be there at the end of December. I like to have a Martini in as many casino lounges and I can. Usually two a night.

And remember, 'What happens in Vegas..........'

6. Someone said Wayne Newton is a republican.
I don't remember who said it, and I'm too lazy to look it up. I would save the money for a ticket and use it in a slot machine. :-) I love Las Vegas. Good Luck!

9. Is old Vegas still around?
I would have like to have gone to Vegas during the sixties when the rat-pack was still around. Is there any of that old Vegas still around? Or has it all been Disneyfied?

15. dad did oral history for Nevada museum
exactly on that subject. How much nicer it was to work for the mob rather than corporate America...at least you knew who your boss was and he looked out for you.

10. No!! But if you ever get to Honolulu you MUST see Don Ho
i did, it was pretty sad actually, he was lip syncing to his own record and he looked a wee bit drunk, that was back in 89 so maybe he's stopped drinking.

14. Definitely a Repuke
Newton appeared in Green Bay, WI with Bush. He also donates to him. I saw his show several years ago in Vegas and he can no longer sing. The other people in his show were good but he stunk. Go to Cirque de Soliel, that's the best show in Vegas.

19. You are so lucky
That there are so many shows set in Las Vegas featuring Wayne Newton and other old style performers like him.

This means you can say "Already done that" if you tune into CSI, American Casino, Las Vegas, etc and spend your time on something new and hip like Cirque de Solie.

Just my opinion.

I did not see Wayne Newton while in Las Vegas.

I did, however, see that rat bastard Dennis Miller before he became completely repugnant.

28. Go see George Carlin at the MGM Grand if he's still there. Saw him
over Thanksgiving, awesome show. On the correct side of the election too, I might add. Ends Dec 1 I think.

Elton John is a seasonal deal at Caesar's Palace, he's not there now... :(

Where is the Liberace museum, anyway?

Go up to the Stratosphere at night and check out the city from up high, very cool. (10 bucks a head without going on any rides)

My wife and I blew money at the Siegfried and Roy Secret Garden at the Mirage and the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay. I didn't really think these attractions were worth the bux it cost, but my wife did.
