And for you Cowboy fans who will reply we have 5 super bowls also, it took you 6 tries. What losers who losses a super bowl.

All other teams have no bragging rights until you have 5 or more.
Don't you wish you could experience watching your team win 5 Super Bowls? Of course you do:)

Yes or no.... Have the Whiner's gone undefeated in a football season? For that matter have any NFL team gone undefeated other than the Phins? You can't say yes to that now can you?... Come on...Say Yes...Oh...ya Can't.... Please say yes... Uhhh Ooo..You can't ....

Now let me ask you a question.... What team is the only team to go undefeated in an NFL season... Come on now...You can say it... Come on...let me hear you.... Spout it out...You can do it....

Bwwwwaaaaa too fucking funny...

BTW: I can't tell you how happy I was when I heard Bill Walsh selected Dennis Erickson as the new head coach.... As a Miami Hurricane fan I can tell you that he almost single handidly ruined the Hurricane football program... He sucked at Seattle and apparently from the looks of yesterdays game, he sucks there too...

That's a great name...for the team I always knew, being born in SF, going to Kesar stadium for free when I was a little fuck and having season tickets at Candlestick, until I moved up to Humboldt County....the name from the 1849 gold rush prospectors who came to northern California to seek their fortunes (49er, gold rush) Who are they? Shit, try just four names, the great John Brodie, Joe Montana, Steve Young and in your face this year, Terrell Owens!

6. My team has...
never run a kickoff back for a touchdown, but they are the current world champions.

As far as watching my team win four more, honestly I couldn't care less. That's what makes TB fans the greatest fans in the world. We have stayed loyal and cheered our team on through the longest loosing streak in NFL history. While watching them win is a lot of fun, it's not all their is to the game.

Also, most 49ers fans that I've met still believe Joe Montana is the quarterback. They call themselves 49ers fans, but they don't care that much for football.

So until your team survives a 20 year losing streak and is still able to pack a stadium with fans, you have nothing to brag about.

Football, like life, is not about winning or losing, it's about enjoying the game.

51. actually, in the 1970s
the 49ers were the dogs of the western division. They were perenially 2-12 with a very short lived bright spot like Delvin Williams. I thought it was awesome when they ruled the 1980s and the 1990s. Except for a very brief association with Neon, they always seemed like a team that had class - something I never associated with either Warren Sapp or John Elway no matter how great their abilities. Even if the Seahawks win the next five SBs how can they ever live down the infamy of a certain rightwing Senator?
Go Niners!

23. Gee,
Why would I want to watch videos of the whiners with thier rule breaking team winning super bowls? I'd rather read about teams that EARNED thier championships, even if it was before television.

I'm not a Charger fan. The team is owned by a Replutocan who is on welfare for millions a year, and threatening to move if he doesn't get millions more in new stadium, real estate, and ticket guarentees. Go Chargers, and take the Padres with you!

No, I am a Rams fan, in spite of them leaving my home town for St. Louis. I rememeber the 49r faithful. I remember when you couldn't find a 49r fan outside the bay area.

So, how long have you lived in the bay area? Or are you another one of those 'fans' who wouldn't support thier home team and jumped on the bandwagon in the 1980's?

35. Good for you!
Always have respect for a hometown fan. And I won't hit you up with the question I ask the out of towners, since you are too young to know (although you might anyway)...
"Who is the hall of fame quarterback of the 48rs before Steve Young and Joe Montana". I remember him. He was GOOD. Not as good as Montana, but good. If he had some recievers or maybe a running back, he might have been great.

I still miss my Rams. I didn't abandon my team, my team abandoned me. I grew up in Los Angeles. Don't ask about the Raiders, they just played some games here while negotiating a new stadium deal, they were never a L.A. team. And I can't get behind the Chargers, not with the way the Replutocan owner keeps ripping off the city and sending our Mayors out to rip off the state (Pete Wilson was mayor of San Diego before becoming governer, and got thier with funding from Alex Spanos, the owner of the Chargers.) I hope the Chargers move to Idaho, let them ruin that states government.

The ABA existed simultaneously to the NBA. The titles were indeed inferior, or at least incomplete. But anyone with a threat of a single functioning brain cell gives full credit to NFL championships garnered before the technicality of Pete Rozelle's money saving (no bidding wars) merger with the AFL, and the Super Bowls that preceded that merger by a few years.

By your juvenile standard, the Packers probably wouldn't even get credit for the first Super Bowl title in '66, since the name Super Bowl had yet to be brainstormed by Lamar Hunt. And perhaps I need to inform you that videos of the early and legit NFL titles won by the Packers and Halas' Bears, etc, likely do not exist.

Congratulations on the Niners' current lofty status. Check out my response in #49 to understand how much it will eventually be worth.

32. Ah, your logic isn't up to speed
As I can recall, the Cowboys won two super bowls before the 9ers ever won one. Plus, the Cowboys still hold the record for most appearances (8). And to boot, the Cowboys are 5 and 2 against the 9ers in playoff games.

I'm sure Packer fans would also have problems with your "logic." They have even more titles than my Cowboys, albeit not super bowl ones. But, of course, to 9er "fans" football didn't begin until 1981.

54. The Niners began in what, 1950
And were perenial losers for 30 years. The Cowboys have been in the league since 1960, and have played in championship games in each of their decades (well, the 00's aren't over yet, and those lovable Raiders have now accomplished this). And you say I am pissed? The Boys have kept me entertained for 37 years (I'm 42). Again, like someone else posted, what happened to your franchise before 1981?

C'mon, let's talk consistency. The Cowboys have appeared in more playoff games and super bowls than the niners. Plus, two of the super bowls the Cowboys played in the 70's came after they defeated the niners. Yes, a 5 and 2 mark against San Fran in the playoffs is huge, considering 5 out of the 7 times Dallas knocked San Fran out of the Super Bowl run.

You were born in 79. Football has been around much longer. A post like the one you started should really upset Packer and Bears fans. They have been winning championships long before Dallas and San Fran ever did, and yes those championships do equate to today's super bowl.

San Fran won 5 before any other team. Okay, then the Steelers won four before anyone. The Packers were the first to win back to back. The Cowboys were the first to win 3 out of 4. I mean, what the hell does that prove?

So, I suggest studying your franchise before the 80's. Take a good whiff at 30 years of frustration. It only took Dallas 6 years to be playing for a Super Bowl. It took a hell of a lot longer for the 9ers.

Quick, who quarterbacked for the niners in the early 70's? Who was his favorite target? Yes, keep flipping through those football almanac pages.

Edited on Mon Sep-22-03 05:05 AM by AwsieDooger
I concede my team is the Dolphins. I was a season ticket holder beginning in 1972.

The Perfect Season is immortality. Five Super Bowls is essentially trivia, easily equalled or eclipsed, the latter probably by the Niners themselves.

But as long as no one matches Miami perfection that feat will grow in legend and esteem, far more than any gross number of Lombardi Trophies. Do you really think anyone will give a damn about the '85 Bears or the '89 Niners or the '62 Packers or the '78 Steelers at the end of this century? They will easily be surpassed in sportswriter and sportscaster gushings by the 2047 Bengals or the 2078 Saints, or whomever. Someone may have as many Super Bowls as the Yankees or Canadiens currently own titles in their sports.

The Dolphin players of old understand. That's why they annually and rightfully celebrate the extinction of the final unbeaten NFL team each season, as do I. This year's survivors are Denver, Carolina, Indianapolis, Seattle, Minnesota and Kansas City. If you want total Super Bowl triumphs to mean a damn thing down the road, I strongly suggest you root for one of them to run the 19 game table.

41. I don't have a team anymore.
I live in Los Angeles County. I've always despised the Rams anyway. And I still like the Raiders.

I liked Montana, love Rice, and liked Steve Young. Although I didn't forgive a couple of NFC championship losses the cowboys sustained at their hands. I first saw Steve Young play live for the Los Angeles Express...the 8 million dollar man. I've got a photo of him heading for the locker room at half time.

I grew up a cowboy fan; many summers watching them at camp in Thousand Oaks. They repaid that with 8 superbowl appearances and 5 wins; that's 13 trips, which I believe outnumbers all others.

I'm not much of a cowboy fan anymore; I didn't like Jimmy Johnson and I'm not fond of Jerry Jones, but I'm glad to see B.P. on board this year.

I was born in KC, and the first football game I ever watched was the 1967 Chiefs' loss to the Packers. I still have a fondness for the Chiefs, even though it's their only Super Bowl appearance.

As a cowboy fan, I had grudging respect and admiration for the Steelers in the 70s.

I rooted for the bears the year they made it. I rooted for Walter Payton every year he played during my lifetime.

I'm a giants fan for no apparent reason. I picked them in the office football pool this year. I got last pick, since I won with the Bucs last year.

I was a big Broncos fan when they had Elway; possibly my favorite qb ever. I got to see the Raiders squeak out an overtime win against Elway at the Coliseum in the 90s; a great win for the local team, but Elway was unbelievable.

If you're a fan, it's not the superbowls that bring you back every year, is it?

42. Don't we wish our team didn't have professional headcases..
...like Terrell "Autograph" Owens? Or legions of smarmy, incredibly arrogant fans resting on the laurels of what Joe Montana did?

Wait, our teams don't! Oh, I'm sorry. And since I'm a Bears fan, if we're counting history, we have more championships than the Niners, so on behalf of all the fans of all the rest of the NFL, go to hell.

52. Terrell Owens
2000 97 catches 1,451 yards, and 13 Touchdowns
2001 93 catches 1,412 yards, and 16 touchdowns
2002 100 catches, 1,300 yards, and 13 touchdowns.

Boy I sure as hell wish I had TO on my team, I would let him sign all the autographs he wants to, plus pair him off with Randy Moss and we'll make DB's shiver the week leading up to the game.

55. West Coast offense started with the great Paul Brown
who the so called "genius" Bill Walsh studied under. It's funny how Walsh never disputed the "genius" tag and didn't give a whole lot of props to a true genius - Paul Brown.

57. I thought it started with Don Coryell?
Of 'Air Coryell' fame.
But I could be wrong.

65. I wish I could say that.
My team only has one win, too.

Of course, that win was against San Fransisco...
