The Imitation of Christ by Thomas a Kempis. It's not an easy read, BTW.

That can give some perspective about the difference between the current spirtual materialism and fad versus the actual living and following of Christ's teachings.

As I have said, I am an Agnostic. I don't promote any one view, but I do hate to see the baby thrown out with the bathwater. In this bankrupt culture, there is not much clear perspective on things. McReligion is what we are seeing.
