Those are things I just heard my fourth-grader say. Should I be concerned? Did you ever feel so passionately (one way or the other) about a president when you were a kid or teenager? I know it's not an isolated thing, I hear her friends saying the same kinds of things about bush.

Yes, he's hated by fourth graders everywhere.

(For the record, I pretty much couldn't stand Reagan, despite his grandfatherly image. But I was in high school when Reagan was in office. Well, I mean I was in fifth grade THROUGH high school. That man was in office about 5,000 fucking years.)

I asked her what she had against Twinkies and she laughed. She said it just sounded like a nice stupid name for bush. Then giggled some more. The president kids love to hate!

3. My daughter is in forth as well and her class

rolls their eyes when you mention him and giggle. there is one Bush supporter in her class.

The words I used were different back then, but the sentiment was the same.

Kids aren't half as dumb and unaware as we think they are. At least most of them aren't.

..in elementary school, certain that he would nuke the world.

There are fifth graders in my class who appeared to hate Kerry just as much.

7. Yikes.

Yeah, my daughter started some now-famous epic lunchroom battles over Kerry vs. bush this year. She actually persuaded quite a few kids to be on her side. Even got the lunchroom ladies involved in the debates.

One poor deluded kid kept telling my daughter "I'm for Kerry because he hates gays!" and my daughter would tell him, "NO, that's bush that hates gays!" and he'd say "oh yeah" but he could never remember from one week to the next. Finally one day during lunch, he got them mixed up again and my daughter YELLED "I WOULD NEVER SUPPORT SOMEONE WHO IS AGAINST GAYS!"

It was apparently one of those moments where everyone in the cafeteria went quiet and looked over at her. It earned her a trip to the principal's office, where she was instructed not to talk about "gays" in school.

Geez. Where's that eye-rolling icon?
