Scabies is a contagious (catching) disorder of the skin caused by very small, wingless insects or mites called the Human Itch mite or Scabies itch mite Sarcoptes scabiei var. hominis (Hering). http://www.safe2use.com/pests/scabies/scabies.htm

3. Scabies is also contracted due to prolonged exposure to freepers. |
|
Yet another reason to stay away from them in case everything else just wasn't enough.

4. See, I was afraid of that. |

...thanks for the warning. Those freepers carry every illness known to man. They should be exterminated for the good of mankind.

Everywhere. Kids a lot of the time. Dorms. Skin-to-skin contact.
There are lotions for getting rid of them, and you'll have to do all of your linens and towels in hot water.
Scabies are very common, easy to deal with, and not a big deal.
No, they don't care about your social class, political orientation, or anything like that.

on the submarine when I was in the Navy. I lucked out, never contracted them. I also didn't get the Bombay Bloomer Beetles when some unlucky chap brought them aboard. We had been underway for three weeks before this nimrod realized that he was scratching his crotch a little more than usual :silly:
