Christmas song downloads thread
Edited on Mon Nov-29-04 06:06 PM by teach1st
I'll see what I can do about posting a different Christmas song or two here each day. (Due to space considerations, any individual song will only be online for 24 hours)

I'll start off with a Jimi Hendrix medly (cuts off at the end): Drummer Boy, Silent Night, Auld Lang Syne

http://www.tuff-teach.com/pics/hendrix-xmas-medly.mp3

On Edit: I uploaded a much longer, complete version

If I may make a recommendation:

"Christmas card from a hooker in Minneapolis" - Tom Waits

Never fails to get me a little choked up.

edit: LYRICS

hey charlie i'm pregnant
and living on the 9th street
right above a dirty bookstore
off euclid avenue
and i stopped takin dope
and i quit drinkin whiskey
and my old man plays the trombone
and works out at the track

and he says that he loves me
even though its not his baby
and he says that he'll raise him up
like he would his own son
and he gave me a ring
that was worn by his mother
and he takes me out dancin
every saturday night.

and hey charlie i think about you
everytime i pass a fillin station
om account of all the grease
you used to wear in your hair
and i still have that record
of little anthony & the imperials
but someone stole my record player
now how do you like that?

hey charlie i almost went crazy
after mario got busted
so i went back to omaha to
live with my folks
but everyone i used to know
was either dead or in prison
so i came back to minneapolis
this time i think i'm gonna stay.

hey charlie i think i'm happy
for the first time since my accident
and i wish i had all the money
that we used to spend on dope
i'd buy me a used car lot
and i wouldn't sell any of em
i'd just drive a different car
every day, dependin on how
i feel

hey charlie for chrissakes
do you want to know the
truth of it?
i don't have a husband
he don't play the trombone
and i need to borrow money
to pay this lawyer
and charlie, hey
i'll be eligible for parole
come valentines day.

37. My personal favorite Christmas song
Walkin' Round in Women's Underwear

(to be sung to "Walkin' in a Winter Wonderland")

Lacy things -- the wife is missin',
Didn't ask -- her permission,
I'm wearin' her clothes,
Her silk pantyhose,
Walkin' 'round in women's underwear.

In the store -- there's a teddy,
Little straps -- like spaghetti,
It holds me so tight,
Like handcuffs at night,
Walkin' 'round in women's underwear.

In the office there's a guy named Melvin,
He pretends that I am Murphy Brown.
He'll say, "Are you ready?" I'll say,"Whoa, Man!"
"Let's wait until our wives are out of town!"

Later on, if you wanna,
We can dress -- like Madonna,
Put on some eyeshade,
And join the parade,
Walkin' 'round in women's underwear!

Lacy things... missin',
Didn't ask... permission,
Wearin' her clothes,
Her silk pantyhose,
Walkin' 'round in women's underwear,
Walkin' 'round in women's underwear,
Walkin' 'round in women's underwear!

38. Have Yourself An Ozzy Little Christmas
Lyrics
Artist: Bob Rivers

Have yourself an ozzy little christmas
Give a bat a bite
Decorate your devil head with twinkling lights
(ozzy christmas, ozzy family christmas)
Have yourself an ozzy little christmas
Let the F word fly
From now on those censors will be up all night
(all those bad words, motherbleeping bad words)
He's repented his bolder days
His druggie ways of yore
Faithful friends who got smashed with him, don’t bring hash to him no more
(we're pretty sure)
Through the slurs you almost can decipher
When he speaks aloud
He’s the hottest star among the head-bang crowd
So have yourself an Ozzy, Ozzy, Ozzy, Ozzy, Ozzy little Christmas now

73. Wow..
.. that reminds me of the stories from WW1 and WW2, where an unofficial siege fire would be held on christmas eve. Apparently, soldiers from the fighting forces would meet in No-Mans Land and share christmas carols from their homeland.

The next day, they would go back to killing each other.

41.  The restroom door said gentleman
The restroom door said gentleman so I just walked inside,
I took two steps and realized I've been taken for a ride.
I heard high voices, turned and found the place was occupied,
By two nuns, three old ladies and a nurse.
What could be worse?
Than two nuns, three old ladies and a nurse.

The restroom door said gentleman it must have been a gag,
As soon as I walked in there I ran into some old hag.
She sprayed me with a can of mase and smacked me with her bag,
I could tell, this wouldn't be my day.
What can I say?
It just wasn't turning out to be my day.

The restroom door said gentleman and I'd would like to find,
The crummy little CREEP who had the nerve to switch the signs.
'Cause I got two black eyes and one high heel up my behind,
Now I can't, sit with comfort and joy.
Boy oh boy.
Now I'll never sit with comfort and joy.

46. Simon and Garfunkel - 7' O'Clock News - Silent Night
http://www.tuff-teach.com/pics/sg-silent-xmas.mp3

"In Washington, the atmosphere was tense today as a special sub-committee of the House Committee on Un-American Activities continued its probe into anti-Viet Nam war protests. Demonstrators were forcibly evicted from the hearings when they began chanting anti-war slogans. Former Vice President Richard Nixon says that unless there is a substantial increase in the present war effort in Viet Nam, the US should look forward to five more years of war. In a speech before the Convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in New York, Nixon also said opposition to the war in this country is the greatest single weapon working against the US. That's the 7 O'clock edition of the news. Goodnight."
