I have had a hard time this semester in school. I was doing better on my stats stuff, but my grade hasn't changed. I am afraid that I will not be able to get a decent job. I am depressed about the election. I feel like I am seeing the worst in humanity and it is really bringing me down. I want to get out of this. Soon.

1. Ugh, my worst semester in school was when I took my |
|
stats requirement. I can't imagine handling that on top of these depressing election results. Sorry!

I think I took too high a course load with the work I did for the Salazar campaign. I just feel so shitty.

Prayers to you - especially for positive thinking. Remember, many of Boosh's policies will be challenged in court - with stays delaying their implementation, I'm sure. The 'Partial-Birth' Abortion Act has been stayed (implementation delayed).
We will fight for a good future for America's kids. Hang in there!
If it makes you feel less alone - Maat (me)(formerly known as LawStudentMom) didn't pass the Calfornia State Bar this time, and that is the only thing preventing me from being a lawyer (essentially).
3 more months of studying the same annoying stuff. I find myself getting distracted - worrying about the America I'm going to hand over to my kid. You and I need to stay focused - we can each meet our respective goals.
Blessings to you!

(that's sound psychology, by the way, in my humble opinion). This psych major learned the 'cure' for depression: stay active. A busy person doesn't have much time to be bummed.

I wish I could give you a big hug. Im so sorry you are feeling so badly. Ive been there. I hope you have somebody to talk to, or a therapist available on campus. Sometimes music, exercise, gardening, my pets, or just talking helps me through my rough times.

this might sound like old fart bullshit but it'll change in time. Even when the walls are closing in, and you are feeling like shit, never forget that all it takes is something good, however small, to change things for the better. Believe me friend, I know...I've been there many times.
Worst thing of all is to stay by yourself and chew it over again and again. It's often the case that if you broach the subject with other people you'll find that they have similar feelings.

Yep, I'm feeling that too...that strangling kind of lonliness that's seems so hard to describe without bursting into tears...
I know what you're saying - I've had about the worst autumn. It's ranking right up there with the one when my father was killed.
I hope you'll be okay, glad to have you here. You're not alone...

anything too drastic. If you are, go get help right now. I mean right now.
A lot of your elder brethren have been there. Things do improve, sometimes slowly.
I was in a pit over the weekend. today, things aren't so bad.
anyway, there is mental health help out there today in most places, especially on college campuses. Take a clear look at your situation and if you need it, don't hesitate to get it. I did and don't regret it for a moment.
OK? we're just dopey online slugs but we're here for you.

13. A lot of people are feeling sad now |
|
first the election, and now the darkest time of the year. I suggest you fnd some uplifting music. I know a fellow who lost his favorite sister during WWII-she was captured by the Nazis and tortured to death. His mother, devistated by the loss, died soon after. The way he dealt with the grief and depression was to play the Mass in B Minor by Bach every night for three months. So music can help heal a soul.

As you know, I'm in the same situation as you, my grades are fuck all this semester, but I'm feeling slightly better about it. I think it's due to being resigned to it. I'm not going to be in grad school, fine. The world isn't ending.
Will I get a good job? I don't know, but I have a job now, which is more than a lot of people. Maybe I can advance in this field, or maybe all the time I used to spend studying I can work on my book, or learn to speak Mandarin, take walks....
Look at some children. Try to go to liberal events where you can see other people fighting the good fight...
It really will be okay.

I would like to be able to work for the Democrats, as long as I don't fundraise. Or maybe in one of the offices that belongs to my new senatro when he takes office, if that is possible.

I don't think they require master's degrees, nor people who get straight A's in statistics ;) ...have you been actively looking for a job? If not, that's one way to get you out of your funk...
You worry too much, and it probably doesn't help to say that...but just try to be easier on yourself. You're being way rougher than other people will be.

Now would be the time to point out how many famous people failed at billions of things before they succeeded in big ways....
J.C. Penney was bankrupt and in a mental institution one year, and the next he was turning profits in the millions...Lincoln lost a whole bunch of times, etc...
Bad luck is never the end of you. Unless you let it be.

26. It means you are probably harder- expect more from yourself than others |
|
do. This is most likely true, unless you have a lot of parental pressure-- which you are going to have to let roll off your back at some point if you are ever going to have a happy life. Keep on plugging away and try to get up and out a bit, you'll enjoy it more than your able to anticipate right now. We are all feeling depressed to some extent right now, it's the only sane reaction. Everything passes, the younger you are the harder it is to believe. Believe it. the trench coat, however, i have no idea....

Clinton once said that sometimes all you can do is hang on. And I'll add to that, if you hang on long enough, things will get better. Even if life does take a turn for the worst, humans are adaptable creatures. We'll get through it together.

I like what Matt Stone said in Bowling For Columbine - they make it seem like the most important thing in the world while you're there... six months after you've left, it's like a half-remembered bad dream.
If you're on this board, I'm betting you're smart, honest and moral. Keep that up and you WILL be fine.

My sophomore year was my hardest. Seemed like everything was working against me.
It's important to remember that no matter how bad things get, they will get better eventually. It's terribly hard to beleive that nowadays, but I still do. All bubbles burst eventually.

You are not alone, we are here for you. We are here for each other. Hold on to everything little positive in your life, do not let go of it. Believe me this works. My daughter is also having a difficult time in school and living on her own but she is determined to hold on to the positives. It is hard I know, I've been there but no way is nothing going to rule my life. I control my life. That is the way it is......Knock me down, I'll find a way to get up.

27. My GPA wasn't too outstanding for my BA, either, but I finally figured |

out what I want to do, and I'm going to school again and doing really well.
That's what I think you should do. Broaden your mind a bit, figure out what color your parachute is.
What are you good at? What are you interested in? Go with that, see where it takes you.
