Is anyone on the "No Call List" getting calls anyway????
I just had 3 phone calls in 5 minutes from some eejit at "The Investment Mortgage Group". Hung up all three times, the last with some blast at the eejit about being on the "No Call List" and the fact I live in a house that is free and clear.

Just tried a Google search on "The Investment Mortgage Group" and got lots of links to mortgages, but nothing by that name.

Is it my imagination or is the "No Call List" failing to protect us from these damn calls?

Thanks all.

1. I'm on it, but getting more & more calls lately.
Letting them know that I'm on the list, but it seems that it matters not

2. It only protects you from legitimate businesses
If there is some business that doesn't care about federal or state fines/prosecution, they are free to call you until they get caught.

I asked them how they got my number and they said it was computer generated, I told them they had better un generate it PDQ> Big laugh, I get them all the time.

6. I'm getting calls
on my celphone. And I can't register that number on the No Call list. So they get to use my minutes and there's nothing I can do about it except change my number.

7. Got one today. Mortgage Co.
Usually, I ask for the person's name. If they reply at all, I tell them I have their # on my caller ID, I'm on a national "Do Not Call List" and ask if they know what the penalty is for ignoring the list.

11. Thanks, I couldn't find one....
LMAO, this house has been paid off for years. It was financed privately through a family member with bucks. No second mortgage -- ever. No home improvement loan -- ever.

Big increase in value over the years as well.

14. Excellent...I see you're in Chicago. I loooove Chicago.
Lived in Schaumburg area for 15 years. Now that I am back in WI, I am enjoying "the city" more than I ever did when I lived closer.

Very laid back from a FIB's viewpoint.

19. I sooo HATE the FIB thing
People here are mean to people from IL, and I just don't get it! The folks in IL seem to be more good-natured about it. Here, they are seriously pissed off.

Real life example: My parents. They were born and raised in WI... their parents born and raised in WI... and they lived in IL for 10 years. during that time, they'd continue to visit WI State Fair every year. They were pulling into parking lot and a woman started screaming at them to "Go to your own god-damn State Fair, you FIB!". She parked and out of the car walks her kid wearing (get this) a CHICAGO BULLS jacket!!

I have MANY examples just like that. I am stuck between a cheese-head and a FIB. Both have great things to offer. But, folks in WI are not generally as friendly as they think they are...

20. I take it with good nature....
You have to, living in Chicago. Lots of crap to put up with here. Many people in Wisconsin have no idea.

And being an FIB is not a bad thing.

12. I don't get any calls... you should lodge a complaint against them...
and write down the time and date they call. It will cost them a bundle if they keep doing it.

I have had ONE solicitation call in one year. I told them that if they called me again, I would lodge a complaint since I was on the do-not-call list. They didn't call again.

13. Thanks and I just sent a complaint.
You either need the company name or the phone number. I don't have caller ID, but sent the company name and that seemed to be enough to submit the complaint.

At first I was so pissed off that I needed information and so came to DU where I got lots of help.

:D

Not having any problems.
Got one call a week after I signed up, but after I blasted that guy, no more.

But doesn't the no call list expire aftr a time? When is that? A year? Maybe you're not on the list any more?

16. We are and we still get calls
Im a trial lawyer so I have some fun with them. I don't let conversation get past the fact that we are on the list and they are not supposed to call. If they don't give up after 2 exchanges I start asking for their name, company name, address and phone number so I can collect my $2,000.00 for being called when I am on the list.

21. No call list
Not anymore, but about a month ago I received several calls, just said I was not accepting solicitors and I was on the no call list. If they continued to call I would report them to the FBI. They hung up and have not been bothered for a while. Sure wish I could do the same thing to all the stupid SPAM I receive.

22. I had two lately that said they were the Univ of Florida
and wanted to do a survey. I could hear a lot of chatter in the background and figured it was a typical boiler room operation. Told em no thanks.
