Who Did You Go To School With Thats Famous

I went to school with Kenny Mayne of ESPN.....Kenny was my drama class team mate and inspired me to go out for school sports.

I also went to school with a person who helped Al Gore promote the Internet.

Jossie Bisset(Melrose Place) graduated from my school in 1986.

8. Bunches
I was at UC Berkeley from 1971 to 1977. Not that I knew 'em all, but I met most at one fraternity party or another. A partial list:

Lee Steinberg, Chuck Muncie, Wesley Walker, Herman Edwards, Vince Ferragamo, Steve Bartkowski, James Rogan (one of the Bastard Pubbie House Managers in the Clinton impeachment), Laura D'Andrea Tyson (Clinton's Chair of Council of Economic Advisors), Lisa Stark (ABC network correspondent).

Plus a bunch of really smart people who became doctors, professors, engineers, lawyers, but who haven't achieved "fame" as such.

I worked at the Coffee Renaissance on Durant, half a block off Telegraph. It was in the ugly building right next to Tower Records and across the street from Jerry's Grossburger (a ripoff of the Giantburger on Euclid north side of campus).

If you ever came in for crepes or capuccino, then you can now add me to your pantheon of great people who are still unrecognized. (how does one use these emoticon thingies?)

20. Ummm...
he was caught. A sad, sad story and needless to say my old school (which I won't name) has been notorious for this incident for over 20 years now.

I should add, though, that the guy who 'caught' him did not see enough to know the exact nature of the 'sex'. I suspect it may have been an "Ali G" kind of experience (if you've ever seen the movie).

24. Wayne Brady and Johnny Damon
I went to a lot of classes with Wayne, and was in the pit orchestra of a play he starred in, "Bye Bye Birdie". He was a great guy and very talented. He was the one everyone said would make it big time. I am glad for him.

Johnny Damon was the younger brother of James Damon, who was in my class. I think Johnny was a year or two behind. James I believe played football and baseball, and was a good player at both. I just remembered Johnny as the 'lil brother. He turned out to be a hell of a player!

We were college roommates and are still best friends. She will be one of the costars on a new Law & Order series that's shooting now.

She also used to be on Third Watch, and has done a bunch of other stuff.

75. Not unless having your trial televised on Court TV counts
Someone I've met but didn't know well murdered his best friend's mom while we were in high school and the trial was televised.

Nobody I went to school with is famous for anything good yet.

of the Green Bay Packers, Grant Wistrom (Seattle Seahawks), and a plethora of other former college football superstars now in the pros. Those are the only "famous" people we have around here, but at least those 2 are pro-bowlers.

79. I went to elementary school with Stevie Wonder.
Although at the time he was known as Little Stevie Wonder. He wasn't in any of my classes because he attended classes for the blind. But every Tuesday I used to go to all the classrooms to notify the teachers that it was time to buy stamps for savings bonds. With his class, I had to lead them down the hall to the table where they sold the stamps. He would also perform in the concert every year that the kids put on. I really didn't know he was famous until I went to junior high school.

Aaron Stauffer, founder and member of Seaweed, an alternative group popular in the early to mid-nineties. His father was coach of the swim team. Aaron was a couple of years behind me in school, and his sister was a year ahead.

87. the character who died in Black Hawk Down was in my Boy Scout Troop
Jamie Smith was the one whose operation in the field was one of the most excruciating scenes, especially after he died there, grew up down the street from me. His father, who lost a leg in Vietnam, helped get the author of the book in touch with all of the other soldiers to get the story that became the book. Incidentally, his twin younger brothers are in the Army, probably in Iraq, right now.

The dude that played Elliot in ET down in Texas. They actually became good friends and hung out when my brother lived down there.

Pretty cool - no one that I know. But Greg Dulli (Afghan Whigs/Twilight Singers was from my town. Didn't go to school with him though.

90. John Salley
I was at Ga. Tech the same time as the famed basketball team. He signed my cast when I broke my leg. I didn't know any other basketball players. I also had a class with Robert Lavette (played for the Dallas Cowboys), but I saw him only twice.

That's all of the famous people I went to school with.

93. Loy Vaught was a freshman when I was a senior
East Kentwood High School, Kentwood, MI.

He played in the NBA, mostly for the Clippers. He played for U of M before that, on the team with Glenn Rice and Terry Mills. My little sister knew him fairly well. He stood out-there weren't that many black kids at EKHS in the 80s, and he was 6'5" (as a freshman) to boot.

Mike Knuble of the NHL went there a few years later.
