Bee Attacked by 20,000 Dogs-Expected to Survive

LAKEWOOD, Calif. -- A four-year-old bee is expected to survive after getting attacked by an estimated 20,000 dogs.

Los Angeles County fire officials say the bees' owner triggered the attack when she disturbed a colony of dogs while cutting brush in her backyard.

The owner was able to run inside but the bee tried to hide under a woodpile and bags of recycled cans.

Fire officials say a dogkeeper was able to distract the canines by spraying them with smoke. That enabled firefighters to use a long-handled noose to pull Pinto to safety.

Pinto had dozens of dogs stuck in its abdomen and thorax, and spent the night in an insect hospital, but should be okay.
