A solution to the holiday blues... FESTIVUS!
...for the REST OF US! Since I am feeling like "the rest of us" these days, what better way to celebrate! I could do Feats of Strength with a W punching bag! Yessss!

It takes place on December 23rd. Another ritual: The Airing of Grievances - perfect this year, 'cuz I have MANY!

7. A holiday created by Frank Costanza,
the father of George Costanza on the Seinfeld TV series. Pretty funny, actually.
Frank got fed up with the commercialism of Christmas/Hanukkah, and created Festivus. No Christmas tree; just an aluminum pole in the corner of the room. Another tradition is to gather the family together for the "airing of grievances". There was also something about "the feats of strength".

9. More on FESTIVUS

Festivus Information:

Celebrated December 23rd each year.
The Meal: What ever you want

During the last few weeks in December when Festivus takes place, families and friends get together at the dinner table and have something called "the Airing of Grievances". During this time, we share with family and friends all the ways they had disappointed over the past year...

...After the Airing of Grievances, we get together right in the same night to do something called "Feats of Strength". This is where the head of the household tests his/her strength with another friend or family member. The great honour is given out to a different person each year...

...Now for the pole. No it is not a tree. A pole, no decorations. Frank Costanza believes that tinsel is very distracting so there are no decorations. The pole is tall, silver, hollow, long, skinny, and heavy...

10. What is the appropriate Festivus greeting?
Happy Festivus?
Merry Festivus?
Something else?

I will be celebrating Festivus as well as Hannukah and Christmas. I need to fit in as many holidays as possible. If I can find some African-American friends, I may do Kwaanza as well.

I always said the best thing to be is a Chinese-Jewish-American. You get three New Years

11. YES!
I think there should be a special Festivus (for the rest of us) forum, with prizes for the best Airing of Grievances. I'm putting up my aluminum pole tonight.

13. "then,
as I was beating his head against the ground, I said to myself, 'THERE HAS TO BE ANOTHER WAY!' So, it came to me: A FESTIVUS!"
"A Festivus?"
"A FESTIVUS FOR THE REST OF US"

But no longer can I practice my love of Festivus. Ben & Jerry stopped making that flavor. Please send them an e-mail to bring it back. PLEASE---December is no longer the same.

19. My family celebrates Festivus
We treat it like a gag gift type of thing. We even have a pole! This year, we're going to be doing scenes from the episode "The Strike." We even have Feats of Strength :spank: and the Airing of Grievances.

It's a lot of fun. Everyone should celebrate it.
