I need a new PC. What is a good non-freeper brand that is still a quality machine? Unfortunately, I can't buy a Mac because of a work application that only works on PC Windows platform. Also, I don't have the expertise to build my own. Help.

Has run really nice since I bought it earlier this year, but I'm not sure if they're freepers.

10. I guess if you want to spend more for the PC, buy TWO operating |
|
systems, pay the extra money required to by another piece of software to allow Windows to run on a Mac, take the performance hit required by layering of operating systems, etc., sure :)
If you want a Mac, buy a Mac, if you want Windows, buy a PC designed to run it. To do otherwise is kind of like trying to pump diesel through a gas engine :).

5. The easy answer is to buy a PC at Costco if you can. |
|
They have HP or Compaq for the most part if I'm not mistaken, but you would be supporting Costco, which is a good thing. :)

6. I friend told me about Costco computers |
|
and their 3 year "no questions asked" PC return. If it breaks in 3 years, take it back and get another (newer) model.
I really love my Sony PC, and I think Costco sells them.

8. The 3 year deal no longer applies to computers, too many |
|
people were abusing it.
BUT, it does still apply to all other electronic stuff, like big screen TV's and such :)

11. I build my own now, have for several years, but if someone |
|
is looking to buy at retail, I normally send them to Costco first :)

See if you can find a friend that knows how to build them. You'd learn a lot in the process and have a much better system than any brand name can give you. That's how I got started and you'd be surprised how easy is it to build a quality system.
