I bought 3 bicycles today and I'm no longer a 53AAAA...Don't Ask... |
|
I'm a 49AAAA....Lost 4" in the chest and an inch from my gut.... The bikes? Oh, it was yard sale day in town today, and first, I bought a rather nice but neglected Schwinn "Le-Tour" for $5. Then I decide that maybe sometime I'd like to pop down to the corner Gas n' Gag for a sammich w/o having to put on the SPD shoes, so I buy a Huffy 26" coaster brake model for $5... Then I spend $3 for a beat-to-hell Murray girl's bike, which I'm gonna make a "No-Weld 'Bent" out of, so I only need the frame, fork and rear wheel anyway...
Yeah, there's a madness to my madness....

2. Miles.....Lots and lots of Miles... |
|
I can ride 24 miles in 1:55 now...I did 11 miles in 1:03 INTO a 15 mph headwind last weekend. Then I turned around and burned 8 miles in 35 minutes.
No fancy diets, I just "eat sensibly"(S'Yeah, right...) drink lots of water and ride at least twice a week for at least an hour.
thanks for the toast!

5. You sound like one of my roommates |
|
He's actually a pro-cyclists, but he always shows up with more bikes from garage sales. It seems that he can't help himself from buying them. Anyway, you've stopped smoking and you're getting in shape, more power to ya.

I lost two pants sizes this season putting about 400 miles on the bike. I ran over a prairie dog today though, oh my gosh, I could do without that ever again...

7. Today I got on my recumbent for the first time this year |
|
It was awesome! I forgot how much I enjoy being on my beloved recumbent. Now that it's not as warm I hope to continue riding on a daily basis. I will start small right now and work myself up to longer rides.
Spending time on my recumbent makes me want to bounce!!!

9. That's why I'm "collecting" bikes... |
|
So many "Take 2 bikes, cut 'em up and braze 'em into a 'bent" websites, I can't resist. The girl's bike is gonna become one of those "no-weld" SWB bentsand I'm collecting bikes to make a LWB...

12. Any possibility of a website detailing |
|
your progress in creating a 'bent from other bikes? I will have to google that and see how others do it. Not that I am handy with tools but I'd still be interested to see how it's done!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

isn't it? ;-) I have a hybrid and I'm thinking of picking up a road bike in the spring. I have no mechanical ability so I'll have to go with new.
BTW, you sound like you're doing great with your training program. With the weather turning, I'm wondering what I'll do during winter. What are you planning?

11. I'm handy, can cut and join metal... |
|
And I love to tinker. I made my own tandem once (ala` Sheldon Brown)so who knows? I may wind up making bents for all my firends and another tandem or two.
I'm building up a "winter bike". Best description I could give is something along the lines of a "comfort bike" or hybrid. Upright riding position and cyclo-cross tyres.
And then the "hampster wheel" of turbo-trainers and rollers inside.
I'm planning on getting a MTB in the spring and doing some trail riding.
And when I hit my weight/fitness goal?
I want Lance's bike.
