37. Go see "Dune", and be disproved of that notion |
|
Have you seen the David Lynch version of "Dune" (the film, not the SciFi Channel's miniseries)? The only "good" thing about Sting in that flick was the codpiece he wore.
It's too bad the Police broke up. It was the only thing he was really good at IMHO :dunce:

Not kidding. He was great in Carnal Knowledge, and excellent in that SNL skit where Paul Simon can remember everyone he ever met ("Of course! You were seated in the fifth row at the Concert in Central Park!") but blanks when Garfunkle comes over.

Adam Ant wasn't too bad...just his film picks.
Roger Daltrey, except, like Adam, he keeps getting shitty roles.
Bob Geldof for "The Wall" but I don't know what else he's done.

Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, a true dramatic role. He was perfect in the Man Who Fell to Earth, so eerie.
Many of his other roles are a little goofy, although he does comedy well too.

15. This is my BIGGEST pet peeve EVER. All those nonworking actors, because |
|
some stupid singer gets offered a part--because the movie people know they can make a buck of him/her. No one cares about hiring actual talent, just how much they can make.
This is a particularly pervasive problem with non-white actors. Every time Beyonce makes another movie, it's a slap in the face to the thousands of black actresses who can't get a job. It makes me quite angry.
The majority of acting singers/singing actors are passable, but there's not a Meryl Streep among them, IMO.

I think Bob Geldoff (sp) did some fine acting in "The Wall". Bing Crosby made a good transition as well.
