Promised daughter a ski trip for her BD and she does not want to be in |
|
the US. She has suggested Whistler, Canada and I am doing the research. What can our group of DUers tell this nonskiing old Texas gal about this?

Am I going to freeze my delicate body while waiting for her to come back from the slopes?

3. I'm a non-skiier, too. |

My 17-year-old is telling me that since I won't let her drive down to to Florida the day after Christmas with her boyfriend and his friend, she is going skiing with them later on! :wow: :scared:
I guess I have to let loose of the reigns sometime.
....or maybe I can go skiing with them!! lol
Neither one of us have ever been skiing before!

4. This one does the black. An accomplishment for one growing up where |
|
it snowed once in her young life. However, I might try cross country. Simply because I HATE being seen as a weeny.

6. So you have been there and can tell me more? |
|
I just need to convince my daughter that I will be okay by myself, relaxing by the fire and shopping and whatever. I just want her to have fun and not worry about me.

7. I hear Whistler is amazing |
|
Ny good friends went last year, and I saw their photos, it looked so gorgeous and fun. I would go there for sure. My friend said the surrounding areas are quite beautiful, too, so be sure to get out a bit, especially if you aren't skiing!
What a nice mom! Great gift!

Consistently great snow, consistently great food, and really really great backcountry, if you're in for it (well not you, but your daughter).
On the other hand, what about the French alps? Cheap and absolutely beautiful!
On edit: And there's HEAPS to do for non-skiiers. Whistler has sort of that big-resort feel, whereas if you pick the right spots in France, you can stay in sweet tiny little alpine towns, wander about while your daughter skis, and generally just soak up the atmosphere. You can move about really easily between resorts, too. Just a thought!

i went there on vacation mainly to get stoned. probably not what you wanted to hear. but them gondola rides can be kinda long. you gotta pass the time!
was a good time though, and don't let my comment discourage you from letting her go, a little pot smoke won't kill her.
