Trailer for puke-inducingly cutesy movie "Because of Winn-Dixie"
Edited on Wed Dec-01-04 01:07 AM by UdoKier

Imagine all the fake cutesiness in "Steel Magnolias", "Hope Floats", and all the other little cutesy country-rural tearjerker-comedy movies populated with lovable-irascible-ecccentric characters, and you've got "Because of Winn-Dixie"

"Winn-Dixie" is the name of a dog, by the way.

1. Going out to the movies,what a concept ,,,
I can't afford it but when we do go out is isn't as much fun as it used to be,people just don't seem to enjoy the experience lately.

2. Could it be the $4 Cokes?
At one of our local theatres, all the concessions are SELF-SERVE, but they're STILL EXPENSIVE AS HELL!

Shouldn't it be cheaper if you have to serve yourself?

6. and boy watch out if you bring your own food!
I went to a movie once with a guy who smuggled his own sodas in because he said the theater people don't like that.

Of course...he was a very strange guy.

7. I ALWAYS bring my own stuff.
I bring popcorn and cokes, smuggled in a bag. Never a problem yet.

If at all possible I don't pay highway robbery prices for things like that.

For $4 you can get a 12-pack or 4 - 2 liter bottles.

3. In the South, Winn Dixie operates a chain of Trailer-Park Grocery Stores
They are probably grinning from ear to ear about this one...

Large Popcorn and a Coke? $8.75 please..

4. I know. Watch the vomitous trailer.
It's a total cutesy overdose. She names the dog on the spur of the moment after some hijinx at a W/D store.

W/D stores are squalid. I always went to Publix when I lived in Florida. Much nicer.

My kid wants an animal soooo badly.

I wonder if there's going to be a sequel "For the Love of Wal-Mart". AAAAGGGG!

9. Dintcha love Cicey Tyson in the nappy wig?
Edited on Wed Dec-01-04 12:27 PM by UdoKier
Because, you know how those quirky black women in the south all live in their shotgun shacks on the edge of town and never run a comb through their hair.

How much you wanna be she drops more nuggets of wisdom than a horse on a parade route?

11. I rolled my eyes at that point.
Ohh Cicely Tyson, you're so wise!
I don't know what happened to her...I think it was when she played Jane...whatever her name was. I think she played Rosa Parks too. And she plays it really hammy too, like "HERE COMES THE WISDOM AND GRAVITY"....It kind of gets on my nerves.

10. OK book
Decent kids book, read it last year, don't remember much about it, but the trailer does not remind me of the book

12. The book's kinda good, actually
it's written for a pre-teen/teen audience, but not bad.

I don't know if I will see the movie.

13. Yeah, on repeated viewing I noticed that too.
Edited on Wed Dec-01-04 04:18 PM by UdoKier
At first I thought it was just a very infantile movie for adults, like "Hope Floats" or "The Ya-Ya Sisterhood" (:puke:)

I finally realized that it's a kid's movie. I wonder if many kids would be into this sort of story? Definitely a very tight age group - girls from about age 9 to 13, maybe.

Doesn't look like something boys of any age would get into.

The marketing seems awfully adult-oriented. I don't know what these people are thinking.
