This is from "Today in Rotten History"
I find this hysterical for some reason: Watt was a true prick. LOL...

Today in Rotten History

Sep 21 1983

Ronald Reagan's Secretary of the Interior, James Watt, describes his staff's racial diversity to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce: "We have every mixture you can have. I have a black, a woman, two Jews and a cripple. And we have talent." Watt is forced to resign 18 days later over these comments.

3. what an epic asshole he was
Watt was, in every possible way, one of the worst secretaries of anything in US history.

4. Pityful
Five remarkable people. Could he name them, or did he just know them by description.

6. RE: "Pityful"
Knowing Watt's rep, I would have to say the latter. In fact, he probably didn't know they were there to begin with.

My guess is that before he made that statement, he probably asked his secretary to "come up with some non-whites for statistical purposes."

5. Damn, I remember that comment; Watt was a scary SOB
with a skewed sense of entitlement, even for the Reagan admin. This is one man for whom I can honestly say: his looks told me all I needed to know about him.

7. Does anyone remember...
who said back in Nixon's time...

When Nixon asked "Just what is it that the black people want?"

Someone said, "Loose shoes, tight pussy, and a warm toilet seat."

The press went nuts figuring out how to quote it.
