40 years gone by, we still remember the 60's. 40 years from now?
I am reminded of the 60's - we still hear about them, still see clips, movies are made about it all - what will they say about this time 40 years from now?

There seemed to me to be a theme, make love not war, peace, equal rights, power to the people and all that. Oh and they dressed funny too.

Now I am not saying to paint your mini-van with flowers and drive around playing a guitar, I am not even really bitching about how people are approaching things currently.

What I am looking for is introspection, ideas, brain storming, or just talking about here and now (war, patriot act, voting, et al). The only time I personally can compare things to is the 60's/early 70's - simply because I think there are some parallels between then and now.

Are we handling them better now, are we making more progress than the hippies (and other leaders/protestors of the time from MLK (we have Jesse Jackson) to the black Panthers, et al) did in getting the message out? I know it may not all be the same issues. I am more interested in the methods.....

Maybe the new hippies are here online. Perhaps this is what they will write about and make movies of (boring movies though) in 40 years when looking back on these times. Instead of congregating in cities we do so online - only difference is no one really sees us (ala nightly news where you see throngs of people).

Again, not complaining about either or any of the methods, just tossing it out there to compare and contrast and get the input of others. Hell, maybe we just miss the energy but still have the momentum. I dunno. Just toss something out there, throw in a recipie for good fried chicken while you're at it :)
