Holiday gift suggestions under $50 for a liberal friend?

It's part of a secret pal / polyanna gift exchange thing, so I'm more or less compelled to get something. I'm buying for a very liberal male, 24 years old, married, grad student who works part time, spends a fair amount of time on the computer and likes cars, the outdoors, and politics.

I think Sun Magazine subscriptions make great gifts. Some of their interviews are amazing, there's no advertising, and there's always good reading material.
