Record cold in California - "Brrr!"
http://www.ktvu.com/news/3958723/detail.html

Look what makes us Californians shudder.

Lows of 42 in SF, 39 in LA...

Okay you folks in snow country, tell us what wimps we are!

I was up in the Sierra on Sunday - the low was just above ZERO there, so even I think the folks on the coast are being a bit wimpy...

1. 39 no fun when it's damp
39 is no fun, too warm for snow, too cold for anything else. Irony: I live in Maine, our high was about 50 yesterday.

3. Usually record cold here is accompanied by dry conditions.
Quirk of our climate. When we get wet storms, it's cool, but milder.

11. I remember living in Miami...
When the temperature was breezy and in the 60s, the locals would put on PARKAS and shiver at the bus stops. I always got a chuckle from that.

12. I'm from snow country, originally
I've lived in California for six years now and quickly and easily fell into the lifestyle. When it is less than 50 degrees outside, I say, "It's freezing!" This from a woman who lived 38 years in Vermont and worked outdoors through most of them.

Yes, I have become a wimp. Why not? We pay twice as much to live here - might as well have good weather.
