So who saw Daily Show last night? |
|
Whether you love him or hate him, Brian Williams was goddamn hilarious. I could see him hosting a dryer, more subdued version of Daily Show.

20. Well, Williams is funny but don't forget he tows the GE line |
|
War and Bushco is good for GE and Williams is no Jon Stewart.

Toward the end of the interview |
|
they blurred Jon's finger out and the audience was laughing....I was paying attention but couldn't put it in context.......
was Williams getting too many laugh lines? Did he sucker Jon? I dunno......need other opinions.

he was making the ol' "in out" finger gesture in reguards to his comment about Di and Arafat.

By the time I get through proof-reading and spell-checking my posts, 10 other posters have said what I wanted to say. :-)

The blur was meant to block out Stewart doing the "finger in the hole" gesture in response to Williams saying "Diana and Arafat" in the same breath--though he hadn't meant to, making it sound like they were romantically linked in the mid-to-late '80s.

10. That and the look Williams gave John. |
|
And his discussion of alternate language that would be used on network TV: 'private parts.'

8. He was pretty funny... |
|
Maybe it was just the two of them playing off each other, but that was a really funny interview. I loved Williams' completely straight face after Jon asked if People magazine had a reporter embedded in Julia Roberts' vagina...

|
and fucking hilarious! NBC will do well with him.
Brokaw was good, and a liberal Democrat. It's sad to see him go. Not sure about Williams' politics.

21. I saw Brokaw on The Daily Show this summer...... |
|
for a "Liberal Democrat" he gave a great impression of being a stiff, grumpy conservative. Maybe he was dabbling in the Kool-Aid.

|
I could never decide which way Brokaw swung, honestly. Interviews with him he mentioned talking points from both sides honestly

12. I saw it but could not hear it. |
|
I was in a bar that had it on but the jukebox was going as well. I used to have a crush on Brian Williams but then I saw him on Conan O'Brien and he just rubbed me really wrong. Maybe I just didn't know how to interpret him. He came off like a real uptight prick. Is that his schtick on talk shows? Is he just being funny? Maybe I got him all wrong.

15. If you'll forgive the expression... |
|
...he's an excellent straight man. Dry, understated humor is his modus operandi. Half the fun of his jokes last night was his dead-on delivery and Stewart's uproarious reaction to it.

Oh, I get it.:) Another unrequited crush.:nopity:
Anyway, I guess his dry, understated, straight man thing is what I misread as uptight when I saw him on Conan O'Brien. I remember thinking to myself, "Is this guy fucking serious?" I guess he wasn't. D'Oh.

Haven't seen it since before the election. I'm not taking a chance on seeing the Ugly Man Boosh's face.

Last night was the first time since the election I've been able to watch the Daily Show, one of my favorites. Couldn't really figure out why, but you nailed it--I fear going ballistic at the sight of UMB's face or sound of his voice. Thankfully, it didn't happen on TDS last night, so I'll risk watching it again. Very glad for remote controls!

God knows I adore Jon Stewart and have been going through total withdrawal without him, but I just couldn't take a chance on seeing THAT hideous creature's face. Afraid I'd kick my set in.
But hey, starting tonight, I'll see if I can.

Brian Williams interviewed over the years. He has amazed me with his great sense of humor. Too bad he can't incorporate that into a 'serious' news program.
