The power went back on at 12:30am this morning...

..and I slept an extra hour and a half through it until my wife woke me up and and I looked up and saw the clock-radio was flashing 1:41.

So I went downstairs, checked the stove, turned off the one light that was on, came back upstairs, and went back to sleep.

The food in the fridge went to Jesus yesterday so today we went to the organical grocery and got some good veggies and milk and stuff. Tonight the in-laws (who are in upper NW DC and still don't have power) will come over with some turkey cutlets and hot dogs and we will consolidate feasts. Life is not too bad all told.

Yesterday was my wife's birthday, and she and my daughter got to ride an elephant at the renaissance fest. My daughter also said something absolutely, positively wonderful --- but that's another story.

1. My power came back Sat morning

here in NC. It was out from lunchtime Thursday until then. I stayed home Thursday night with candles, radio and flashlights. But I stayed at my sister's apartment complex Friday night until today. I always have fun there and hate to leave!

Yes, I have to clean out my fridge. x( I hate it and am not looking forward to it one bit!! :-( I had some great steaks and paté that I will have to throw out. Arrggh!!

Everything was pretty mild here in central NC. Just some fallen branches, nothing done to the house. I mentioned to Maine Mary in another thread that I'm thinking of getting a generator.
