Found out about one month ago my grandma has bowel cancer that spread to her liver and other organs. Was told she had a few months left, but a week ago found out she just had a little time left.
Went out to see my parents this weekend (they had just seen her) for a break and visit and found out it could be this weekend, as she took a turn for the worst.

When we found out the news, we all went to the nursing home where she was still in bed surrounded by various family members. I really didn't recognize her, she had changed so, but she is at peace.

I feel especially sorry for my dad and his sister, as well as my grandpa. It's so hard to lose a spouse and your mother. :( Hard losing anybody, hope you understand what I'm saying. :(

31. She was my stepgrandma....

and I know to some people (unfortunately SOME members of this side of my family) it makes some things "different". I don't know how to explain things other than "family politics" :eyes: The only "issue" I have with our family mourning. :(

I've known her for a quarter century so this is definitely grandma to me. :) My dad is her son and he, of course, is quite broken up. He was sad that he wasn't "there" when she died, but he has no need to feel guilty.
She was always nice and kind to me....that's what I remember. :)

My grammie died in 1990, she taught me everything I know about the Democratic party, She drove me to the McGovern headquarters to babysit before I would vote...she was in love with the judge in the Nixon impeachment hearings and she told me that she had never seen a better president in her almost 100 years than Jimmy Carter. I miss her so much. Sadly, her daughter, my mother, was and is a a devote Rush Republican.
