Firefox Help!!!
A few days ago, people on this board recommended that I try Firefox to get rid of pop ups.

It worked for a few days, but then started to crash -- i.e. not load. So I went to their help site, uninstalled, and reinstalled. Now, I can't connect to the internet. Nothing loads. So I'm back to IE.

Anyone else ever have this type of problem. I went to the Options Menu and checked the Connections, but everything seemed to be ok. And it's not a firewall issue.

Help!!

4. Very strange.
I suggest that you uninstall it again. Then, go download a file called RegSupreme(google it). It gives you a full functional 30 day trial. Run it and clean out all the cruft and old entries in your registry. Then, reinstall it. That may work.

You may have an old registry entry in there that is causing problems.

6. Have you run Firefox in Safe mode?
i.e., from the start menu you can launch Firefox in safe mode. See if that works.

If it does I think a fix is possible given my experience with a problem.

7. Have you tried the Firefox FAQ?
Reinstalling Firefox requires that it be uninstalled properly which means not only using Start/Settings/Control Panel/Add_Remove Programs but removing the Mozilla folder in Documents & Settings.
C:\Documents and Settings\USER NAME\Application Data\Mozilla

Try reinstalling after you do that.

For further help I recommend you start here:
http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/

And if you can't get what you need there, check here:
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=38

For Firefox to "just start crashing" something pretty odd would have to happen.
Is anyone else using your computer?
Did you install something or change settings in Firefox?

Have you run latest anti-virus/malware scans?

Good luck.

Cletus

8. This fixed it fo me....
go to:
C:\Documents and Settings\(your user name)\Application Data\Mozilla

and delete the mozilla directory. Run Firefox and everything should be okay.

11. I wonder if that does the same thing as deleting the profile
Which I had to do to get FF fixed a few days ago. This involves making a simple change to the properties of a firefox shortcut. Like so:

the -p in the 'target' field will wipe out the user profile. Hit 'apply' and launce FF.

It worked for me. (Remember not to re-use that shortcut!)

Application Data included.

Still no dice.

And I did run every virus, spyware, and registery scanner (RegSupreme) out there.

It's driving me nuts!
