Anyone heard from Ladyhawk?
Just curious. I lost the thread and can't find it again. I was thinking about her, hoping she got some help.

1. I think admin was taking care of this privately
so as to ensure her safety and well being without compromising her privacy in the matter.

2. Thanks, NSMA
for the update. I was out most of the late afternoon and didn't see the resolution.

Admin, feel free to delete this thread if you think it will stir the pot...again.

3. No worries
I think there is a thread in ASK THE ADMIN but it doesn't spell it out clearly.

You are just another DU'er looking out for our community. :hi:

4. while we're on the subject, I owe an apology . . .
Edited on Mon Sep-22-03 12:09 AM by OneBlueSky
both to Ladyhawk and others for my rather flip answer to her initial post . . . as one who is dealing with clinical depression myself, I am more than aware that it is a medical condition that cannot be handled by thinking happy thoughts . . . I think I was just trying to lighten things up a bit for her, but upon reflection I see that my response was totally inappropriate . . . what I posted was the kinds of things I say to myself to get through tough days, but trying to lay that on someone else who is obviously suffering was just not the thing to do . . . my sincere apologies to Ladyhawke and to all for my lapse in judgement . . . I really do understand about depression and how serious it is, and wasn't at all trying to make light of it . . .

12. Don't be so hard on yourself, sweetie, I think your intentions were pure
and kind.

7. No....
but I read her posts, and I feel her pain. My wrists both have scars on them. Thoughts of killing yourself truely are a temp. solution to a perm. problem.

Post her Lady Hawk, youd be making this guys monday morning/afternoon.

9. I think you meant
permanent solution to a temporary problem but even that is a bit misleading: some people do suffer from lifelong agonizing depression - to them there is nothing "temporary" about it. I do believe, however, that all forms of depression can be treated.

We just chatted a little while ago and she had a great thread here earlier about her pets: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=105&topic_id=209302

I'm really glad you guys are here. It makes a world of a difference to have that DU family caring.

I hope I'm not stepping over any lines but LadyHawke is DAMN LUCKY to have so many people who care because life isn't easy and a little caring goes a looong way!

DUers are just Too Cool. Now good-night :) and back to bed for me!

10. She posted a reply to an inocuous post last night;
unfortunately I can't remember which one it was (in the Lounge, though, if you come across it, would you please link it here?). I considered that and her pet posts a good sign.

Let's put it this way--I annoyed the mods and admins to hell, I'm sure, but she was still around yesterday, so . . .

Thanks to mods and admin, though, for going way beyond the call of duty. Skinner, you are the greatest!

13. Few Of Us Are Qualified
Edited on Tue Sep-23-03 06:37 PM by Don_G
To help with her medical problems and depression. As much as I would like to offer a sympathetic ear and helping hand, I don't know if if it would be the right thing for her in the long run.

I'm just a glorified Mechanic with a heart, a fat hairy cat and a practial liberal attitude.

What do I know? I'm just a guy my cat assigned to clean the litter box and a Cubs fan....

15. I agree with you. the way things are going, DU needs a resident
shrink and a full-time veterinarian. I finally was able to post a photo of my scaredy-cat. I would love to see yours.:-)

14. it's a mess...
Last I saw, she was upset because the police were contacted to make sure that she wasn't harming herself. I understand why she was upset but also I don't see where there was any choice -- someone is talking about suicide, you have to act to keep them alive and worry about the fine points later. I hope she will be OK but I think she is a little peeved with DU at the moment. Many of us here have heard the things she was saying from people who did go on to off themselves so we were quite worried. I hope she will get help and that she will also realize that no one intended any harm. We all realize that police contact, psych wards, etc. are not pleasant but there was a feeling we were running out of options. I hope one day she will be back with more pix of her beautiful pets and with a stronger spirit.

16. What a lovely post
I worry about her, as well. I have worried about several people here. DU constantly amazes me with the support and caring that everyone receives here, apart from the political connectedness. My friend sent me a link for a new forum for Democrats, earlier today. I guess she expected me to spread the word. I didn't do it. I cannot imagine a forum I could recommend more highly to anyone than I do DU.:-)
