All I can say is, "Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!"

And of course the freepers are pissed:

"Well, I have not been loking at the Onion for ages now. Despite the great bit they did right after 9-11, ( "Hijackers Surpised to Fnd Themselves in Hell") they have become increasingly whiny , anti-troops and Anti-America.
Worse yet, they just aren't funny any more.
I don't need their stuff. "

"Splain me something. They have to pay for bandwidth. And I bet their advertising doesn't cover their expenses. So aren't we SAVING them money by "hosting" the content here on FR?"

Well, thats what happens when you steal and break the law.

6. You'll notice that...
those links are now empty pages.

The Freepers seem to understand copyright violation, or, perhaps, they just couldn't handle being beat up by the Onion.

9. You think they would have learned by now
Free Republic v. Los Angeles Times and Washington Post
April 24, 2001: The Free Republic Website has filed an appeal with the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals from a District Court decision finding them liable for copyright infringement when publishing copies of news stories from their website without permission. Free Republic was sued by the Los Angeles Times and Washington Post and, despite their fair use defense, lost at the trial court level.

Check out the full text of the appeal they filed:
