What the hell do people have against TREES?
Driving to work this morning, I saw yet another lovely grove of trees totally torn to bits. It was weird suddenly being able to see sky on that side of the road. The trees were so lovely on this particular stretch of road, and they reached over and touched the trees on the other side, providing a beautiful canopy.

At the end of the missing trees, I saw a sign: a GOLF COURSE is being put there.

WTF????? Yeah, THAT'S what the world needs. Another fucking golf course.

8. You have fun with that, at least it's roughage.
But blech, so many hands have touched it. Be sure to wash it first.

2. Oh my
I just saw Coventina's post after I posted this and thought "Now how the hell could anyone copycat me that fast?"

Then I realized hers was already there! I didn't even READ the board before posting mine!

Today must be Hate Trees Day. Grrrrrrrr.

6. I know!
I just posted to you on your thread!

You and I have some kind of weird serendipity today. Isn't it sad about my trees? (Well they aren't mine, but the trees I talk about in my thread!)

I was shocked to see that empty space with just ripped up branches, trunks and mud everywhere.

9. That is really sad!
Yesterday when my neighbors were spouting their idiocy at first I thought they were kidding, then I was just shocked, and finally I was angry. I think they could tell by the look on my face, because I was the only one not talking and they suddenly dropped the subject.

I'm going to be leaving within the month. I'm very glad. I hope I'll be gone before the massacre occurs.

10. Where I live....
....you can buy a product called "redwood soil conditioner" that is essentially pureed trees. It is used instead of peat moss, which is very hard to find here. If you know anything about the biology of redwoods, you will understand the absurdity of "redwood soil conditioner", which is essentially toxic to your soil and prevents your flower or vegetable seeds from ever sprouting. Redwoods produce this chemical naturally because they are so tiny when they are born and they grow so slowly that they would be choked out by faster-growing plants before they had a chance otherwise.

The only thing "redwood soil conditioner" actually has in common with peat moss is that it does, apparently, make it somewhat easier to get a spade through our rather hard, claylike soil.

You never can tell what some people will buy.

11. Man
I would have never known that, though. People are just plain MEAN for even marketing something like that and taking people's money knowing it isn't going to help the new things grow.
