3. "Forget it, Jake. It's Chinatown."
Nicholson.
Chinatown.

oh, and there's this, from "Body Heat." Early on, Wm. Hurt meets Kathleen Turner on a boardwalk in a sweltering Florida night and they immediately begin flirting. Of course you know this will be big trouble. At one point she says to him, in response to one of his lame jokes:
"You're not too bright, are you? I like that in a man."

33. Also from "Chinatown":
"Politicians, ugly buildings and whores all get respectable if they last long enough."

Lest we forget, these lines were written by Robert Towne. That particular one was mewed by Noah Cross, played by John Huston.

Nicholson's a bit of a writer too, you know; he co-wrote "Head", the Monkees movie...

9. Alien 3 has some very good lines
Think what you will of the movie, but it's really got some excellent actors and some highly comical dialogue, given the situation the characters are in.

"How do you know my name?"
"It's stenciled on the back of your shorts."

"Let me see if I have this correct, lieutenant. It's an eight foot creature of some kind with acid for blood, and it derived on your spaceship. It kills on sight and is...generally unpleasant."

"You keep telling me how dumb I am. Well I'm smart enough not to have a life sentence on this rock!"

12. From the movie "Arthur"...
... when the bartender gives he and his bar mate a hard time by asking, "Don't you think you've had enough?" Arthur responded, "We want more than enough!"

Or when he meets his future father-in-law to be and pats the mounted moosehead, saying, "This must be very embarrassing for you."

In Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, he is in the cave with the Nazi's and ancient Crusader. (Knight of Templar, i think.)

The Ancient Knight says "He chose poorly!" No kidding! The most solid, and understated movie line i've ever heard.

46. Some of mine
"You fill me with inertia." --Peter Cook in the original Bedazzled, as the devil playing a haughty disdainful rock star, spoken to his screaming fans.

"Some men are born two drinks below par." --from Whiskey Galore. I don't remember the actor's name, but it's said in reference to Gordon Jackson (who later played Hudson on Upstairs, Downstairs), who is playing a mama's boy who finally stands up to his domineering mother after having some whiskey.

"I tried on some women's silk underwear once. What a sensation! No wonder they want it all the time." One of the kidnappers in Shoot the Piano Player.

"Richer better." The Chinese-born bride mangling her repetition of the wedding vows in A Wedding Banquet.

"My father was a missionary, but he was eaten by his Bible class." Nanette Newman in The Wrong Box.

"Oh, I just turned gay all of a sudden." Cary Grant in Bringing Up Baby. This is a prime example of "slip it past the censors." In this film, made in 1938, Cary Grant has gotten his clothes soaked, and Katherine Hepburn lends him one of her frilly bathrobes. He absent-mindedly answers the door dressed like that.

"You can't see anything in a car." from Men With Guns. As a great believer in exploring places on foot, I agree with that line.

52. from MST3K and Monty python
Ok first theres two lines from mst3k the movie

1st is when the big brain alien chases the girl while the hero is trapped, the alien eventually gets crushed from the lack of preassure in the alien ship and like 4 seconds after he died the hero runs up to the girl and the guys making the jokes go "THANK GOD I SAVED YOU"

2nd is from the same movie when they watch the ending credits and it says "All rights reserved" they go
"-all rights reserved callahan". and then in a clint eastwood voice, "-oh yeah? well what about the rights of that little girl"

Same from the credits it says like "color by Eastman" the guys go "-EASTMAN! he came from the EAST!"

and finally there are times in life of brian the main characters have great speeches, brian yells YOU ARE ALL UNIQUE!! and everyne shouts WE ARE ALL UNIQUE!! then one single lonely voice goes.. "im not"

Same when regis says how EVERYONE would die for the cause then "i wouldnt" regis go oh yeah theres one but apart from the one we would ALL gladly die

53. Just for starters
"It's even better when you help." Lauren Bacall to Humphrey Bogart, after their SECOND kiss in "To Have and Have Not."

From "Casablanca":

Peter Lorre: "You despise me, don't you, Rick?"

Bogart: "Well, if I ever thought about you, I suppose I would."

From "The Ref":

Dennis Leary to mean, manipulative widow Glynis Johns:

"Lady, your husband ain't dead. He's hiding."

Cary Grant in "Arsenic and Old Lace": "Insanity runs in my family. It practically gallops!"

And those are just for starters. "Casablanca" and "The Ref" are eminently quotable, as are "The Lion in Winter" and "Young Frankenstein."
