Madonna-Britney kiss angers Stevie
By NUI TE KOHA
19sep03

STEVIE Nicks rates the notorious Madonna-Britney kiss as the most obnoxious television moment ever.

"First of all, Madonna is too old to be kissing someone who is 22," the Fleetwood Mac singer told the Herald Sun.

"And Britney should be smarter than that. Hopefully, she will figure a way out of this hole she has dug for herself."

Original rock chick Nicks, 55, said Spears and Christina Aguilera should wear more clothes and try writing decent songs.

"I personally have never been to a strip club, but I turn on MTV and see in every single video what it must be like to be at a strip club," Nicks said.

"I think the mystery is gone, and if you have no mystery, then you aren't even sexy.

5. Sure, maybe they could remake some Fleetwood Mac songs.
Does Stevie really think decent songs will sell? Give me some examples from the last ten years.

6. Go Stevie, Go Stevie!
Damn straight girl!

Stevie...Ann...Nancy...et. al. Now that's what I call class act musicians. Reguardless of them being male or female, the folks who rock like these ladies have it.

7. Not a Stevie fan, but I can't argue with her success.
Will people still be paying attention to Britney when she's 55?

Trying to erase painful future vision now (choke)! Yikes, my brain!

Britney will soon be nothing but the answer to a "Trivial Pursuit" question.

See also: Branigan, Laura.

edit for spelling

Well at least Branigan had a voice. True she was forgotten but she could out sing Britney that's for damn sure.

Hey Mac! :hi:

25. Yeah, she could outsing Britney...
...but that's like saying, "My Pinto is better than your Vega.". Both were quasi talented creations of the corporate music machine.

Laura Branigan? Yeccch.

Britney? Pugh.

Give me Pink anyday.

28. Not exactly true
your Pinto/Vega comparison. Branigan really had a great voice. She was actually a background singer for Leonard Cohen before she went solo. I doubt Leonard would hire Britney. Whatever you may think of her songs, she actually had some talent. I mean compare "Gloria" to "Oops I did it Again" and listen to the vocals. If anything, Branigan's career was mismanaged.

But you're right about Pink.

10. go Stevie go
She is right. The music industry can't figure out why sales are off; they blame internet file sharing. I say it's because they are signing such crap acts.

11. Umm, write songs?
Does Britney actually write her own songs? I find it hard to believe she can write a crappy song, let alone a "decent" song. Hence the skimpy clothes. There in lies the difference. Stevie never had to look like a stripper as she can actually sing and write songs.

21. Change it to U2's "Gloria" - on 3.....
1............2................3!

<Rockin' guitar riff>
I try to sing this song
I... I try to stand up
But I can't find my feet
I try, I try to speak up
But only in you I'm complete

Gloria... in te domine
Gloria... exultate
Gloria... Gloria
Oh Lord, loosen my lips

I try to sing this song
I... I try to get in
But I can't find the door
The door is open
You're standing there
You let me in

Gloria... in te domine
Gloria... exultate
Oh Lord, if I had anything
Anything at all
I'd give it to you
I'd give it to you

Gloria... Gloria...

You're welcome! ;-)

24. Remember when dressing sexy....
.... meant leaving something to the imagination?

The funny thing is that the line between sexy and trashy is not all that fine a line.

Remember J. Lo's Grammy dress from a few years back. Someone asked her if she thought it was foolish to wear such a cheap-looking dress. She argued that the dress cost $9000. Well, she paid $9000 to look like a $5 whore.

27. Wearing clothes
There is a practical aspect to showing a lot of skin onstage. It's bloody hot up there with all the lights, especially if you're dancing up a storm. Less clothes - more cooling.

29. Yeah, That's The Ticket
I'm absolutely sure that is why they dress that way! It has nothing to do with selling T&A when the talent is limited. It's all about it being hot on stage. Yeah, that's right.
