Marijuana crops up due to wet, warm weather
:bounce:

<snip>

PORTLAND, Maine -- This summer's wet and warm weather sparked a bumper crop of marijuana, and state drug agents are rolling in reinforcements.

During the past month, Maine Drug Enforcement agents have located and destroyed nearly 500 marijuana plants in seven communities.

The agents used airplanes and global-positioning devices in their searches.

But even before those raids, police across the state had already destroyed 5,400 pot plants, 70 percent more than they had at the same time last year. Police said the plants would have yielded more than a ton of marijuana and been worth an estimated $4 million on the street if they had reached maturity.

1. They've had to cut back on drug-spotting flights here in Indiana
Due to budget cuts....

I think that's the only budget cut I've ever applauded.

:evilgrin:

3. Good to see they're spending money wisely.
Going after weed, which grows naturally in the woods in many parts of the country, is much more important than fighting terrorists. Thank you, Mr. Ashcroft, from saving us from a naturally occuring plant that also happens to be harmless. Between this and the Tommy Chong bust, we can rest easily.
