Christmas TV Specials That Make You Leave The Room
When I was a kid in the Late '50s and Early '60s, NBC used to run "Ahmal and the Night Visitors", an opera they commissioned about the Three Kings traveling to the manger. Because it was opera (and I didn't like opera), I would always leave the room, and don't remember ever seeing it in its entirity.

Any specials you'd rather leave the room than watch?

2. Rudolph And The Island Of Misfit Toys.
The animation and the voices are ALL WRONG.

Anything that is exceedingly schmaltzy without a scrap of redeeming value.

4. "The Littlest Angel"
I think it was a Christmas special. It was on when I was a kid, about a little kid that dies and becomes an angel. Starred the boy from Family Affair. Syrupy-sweet ipecac

8. Oh, god, I remember that
Johnny Whittaker - it was horrible. Even as a little kid, I thought it was horrible. Why'd you have to remind me of that?! :spank:

7. Yeah!
That's the kind of thing I had in mind when I said "exceedingly schmaltzy" but I couldn't think of a specific title.

when I was a kid.

I was one of the kings later.

it's pretty lightweight opera.

I second the Hallmark schmaltzy crap.

On the pl;us side, there are a bunch of really great ones I look forward to every year.

12. Clay Aikens and Jessica Simpson...
Two shows on this year that when advertised make me want to barf...

Why is Clay Aikens popular.....

Why do I know who Clay Aikens is.....

Why do I think he spends way too much time making his hair look like he has spent no time to use a comb.....

Why is Jessica Simpson popular.....

Why can't I name one song either of them does but know so much about their insipid lives....

why is George Bush President.....

Oh wait, all of the above explains that completely......

13. The Star Wars Christmas Special
Truly the WORST piece of crap ever. Only shown once. Cameos of Luke, Leia and Han and a bunch of then CBS show actors trying to get Chewbacca home for Wookie Life day.

It made Pink Flamingos look like Gone with the Wind!

leave the room any time anything cheerfully Christmas comes on. I think it's all the cheerfulness of the shows. Nothing here to be Holiday cheerful about.:puke:

20. Anything made after 1986 or so.
The classics are all great, at least for their camp value.

And who could resist Burl Ives singing "Silver and Gold"?

Every year now it seems the networks try to make some lame, computer animated piece of crap that they think is destined to be the next classic, only to have it end up the following year in the fires of Disney Channel hell.
