I am encouraging my son to gamble.. Am I a bad Mom??

He has regular poker buddies, and has had to use a rickety card table that my husband's mother gave us 30 years ago, and we gave him..

So this Christmas I bought him this...I am guessing this will be a hit with him...Right?? Right??

It's coming from Kentucky.. I cannot wait to see it :)

I could not afford 8 chairs, so he's on his own for chairs :)

Solid Rosewood Poker Table
This poker table is very solid and weighs
50lbs. It seats eight players and has folding
legs that lock open for added strength.
.
It is finished with four coats of Rosewood
varnish with premium green (only) casino felt
playing area. It is 48" from side to side.
.
Has 8 drink holders and chip slots.

I loved playing poker with my buddies. We never played for high stakes, maybe a $20 limit. It kept everything friendly & fun.

8. Sweet
I do better at money games vs. tournaments. But mabye I'll try that one.

They say that poker is not gambling. According to them.

6. You're not encouraging him, he already does
This Thanksgiving I bought a whole bunch of candy. My two boys and I played poker with it. Better than chips. They are 11 and 14 and it was simply a family game - like my parent's did with me. Growing up I can remember my parent's having people over for a poker game - this was a revolving game that included some friends and relatives - and usually had Della Reese singing in the background. I remember those games fondly.

Last year I got him a portable DVD video player thingie..and since he's on his own, I don't know what he wants these days.

I only knew about the poker thing because we wnet shopping together yesterday for his brother who lives in Seattle..

He visited his brother in Seattle last month and told me that Mike needed clothes, so I took him with me to help me pick out stuff that big brother might like...

Got the big brother some really great stuff..and a gift certif to Target for the "difference" in the poker table cost.. (Moms always do that.. We used to lay all the stuff out for all three, and add up..so no one was slighted..

Now the really hard one to get stuff for.. Our "rich" son. They guy who pays CASH for a new car

I am planning on making chex mix, cookies, & other goodies that he used to get here, as a kid..and I know they don't make those things for themselves...and getting him and his wife a gift certificate at a nice restaurant..and some little stuff..

They literally do have everything, and are hard to buy for

11. I guess I was 'lucky???' I have only one son...of couse 3 grandkids!
I never think about how much I spend on each..only what I think they would enjoy..if I think one would enjoy a cheap trinket..it get her that cheap trinket and if the other would enjoy an expensive trinket..I buy that...(of course I have to have the exact same number of gifts-5 each) but I usually buy them some special gift for all three...so I guess when they grow up and move to their seperate homes I will have to rethink how to allocate my funds??

13. Our problem when they were young, was that they were all close
in age..born 11/73...12/77...12/78

so they liked the SAME stuff, and would haul alltheir loot to their rooms, and in a few hours, they would have an approximate total, and heaven help us if one felt "slighted".... BRATS !!!

12. Hey, there's a show on Bravo called "Celebrity Poker". :-)
Poker seems to be really popular these days. I've never gotten the hang of it.

I don't see a problem with buying him a poker table.
