Please help cheer me up
I am warning you: I am in a rotten mood today. Just found out that my husband's National Guard unit is on alert and will probably deploy sometime after the first of the year. I am so worried about how this will effect my 2 1/2-year-old. She still says "I missed my Daddy when he was on the base." (he was in training) I don't know how to feel right now. Can't think very clearly. I have been surfing DU since 12:00 today.

To complete the roller coaster ride, we were elated about his new job
(see link) http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=105&topic_id=2140758&mesg_id=2140758

Now that elation has dissipated. I didn't even get to celebrate longer than 12 hours.

Please help me, my fellow DUers! I know I can count on you!

8. You're so welcome.
I'm in Indy, BTW. Maybe we should do a meetup early in the new year. :)

11. Yeah, hubby says he is on the list to Iraq,
Edited on Sat Dec-04-04 06:08 PM by WakeMeUp
but I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in Iran. The only thing that helps me is that he is not infantry, artillery or cavalry. I will hold on to the hope that he will be a little safer for not being on the front lines, but you never know.

edit for not typing well enough!

after your celebration yesterday. I went to bed thinking that something really good happened and you were feeling blessed. I suppose the only upside is that he will still be here for Christmas. Make the most of it my dear. You and your family will be in my prayers and added to my growing refrigerator list( the list I keep of those who are fighting this terrible war.) I for one am here for you.
I just saw you are in Anderson, I'm in Madison..origanally from Muncie (per 72)

18. Sorry, I live in Indiana. My husband was stationed in Ga, though
this past summer for training. If I ever get back there, I will definitely make contact. Thanks for the warm fuzzies!

17. Heart, hugs, and prayers to you.
Yours must be the third post I've read like this in the past three days on DU.

Allow yourself that rotten mood and know that we are wtih you in spirit.

And I stack up pillows to punch and kick; it's remarkable therapy.

19. Thanks, I will have to try that!
I of course feel for my husband who has to endure separation from us. Right now, however, I have been reveling in this depression for the length of time that he is not in the house. I don't want to drag him down with me!

20. Will he be able to keep his assignment?
Sorry to hear about the imminent deployment. But will his job be here when he returns? That is so sad. I saw your bubbly letter from yesterday. Just savor every moment....

21. We are not sure about his job
He technically will be employed by a temp service. If he is offered something permanent, he will accept it and the position must be held for him or they must give him a like position upon his return.

22. Aw no.
Sorry for the upsetting news.
Is there any way that he won't be deployed, even if placed on alert?
I guess not, since January is so soon coming up?

Many hugs and prayers for you--um...cheering you up...let me get back to you on that, I'm not in such a hot mood either.

He's pretty sure right now. I suppose the only thing that will change it is a sudden decrease in fighting.
